Wheeling/Prospect 4 St Viator 3

By Aaron Brown

Palatine, IL -- Wheeling/Prospect's goalie Liz Dix continued a remarkable run with a 16-save performance in a 5-3 victory over rival St Viator on Tuesday night. Dix allowed only one goal in the first period as W/P jumped out to 2-1 lead, then held the Lions scoreless over the next two quarters. St Viator would tally two late goals to get to within two of the Wild Knights, but Dix shut them out the rest of the way to preserve the win.

Dix continued her dominance in goal for Wheeling/Prospect by shutting out Fremd for over three quarters to lift the Wild Knights to a 13-1 victory on Monday night. Dix made 15 saves throughout the game, and the only goal she allowed came on a wide-open breakaway shot in the fourth quarter.

In her last seven games, Dix has had 20 shutout quarters and has a goals against average of 0.85 per game. She shutout Hersey and Highland Park in wins last week, then did not allow a goal to Deerfield or Morgan Park in the Wild Knight's weekend tournament. In total, she has only allowed six goals in the last seven contests.

In the win tonight, Laura Hineman led W/P with six goals. Kaitlynn Fairburn added four scores and Ali Luft tallied two goals.
