Game Preview - Mother McAuley (22-4) enters the state tournament after knocking off Sandburg 15-11 at the Sandburg sectional. The defending state champions begin their quest to return to the final game against Barrington. The Mighty Macs are led on offense by Sandra Perez and Bianca Cabrera. Maggie Coghlan adds solid defense and all the intangibles that make McAuley successful. Seniors Megan O'Connell and Erin Delaney (goalie) provide solid leadership and make things difficult for teams on the defensive end. The emergence of freshman Maggie Wood has also given McAuley another option on offense.
Barrington (13-14) advanced to state with a 10-6 win over Fremd, a team that they had lost to earlier in the year 6-5. Maggie Thalheimer leads the Broncos on offense, while Courtney Hall has been impressive in goal for the Broncos. Whitney Martin, Lea Schwieger, Caitlin Martin, Maggie Faulkner, and Anna Dille fill out the rest of the Barrington lineup.
The teams did not meet during the regular season.
