Game Preview

-

Evanston (22-9) enters the state tournament after knocking off Loyola 6-1 at the Glenbrook North sectional. Brett Hatcher's squad is lead by senior defender Maggie Hatcher, while Anna Ditton provides the offensive spark for the Wildkits. Goalie Lanier Zimmer has been strong in goal all season for Evanston, while players like Anne Grissinger, Kate Bailey, Brooke Ramsey, and Lindsay Wich add both offense and defense to a balanced lineup.

St Ignatius (23-9) advanced to state with a 4-3 win over Latin, their second close victory over the Romans in 2004 in as many tries. Nora Kennelly's freshman campaign has been impressive, as she is a threat to score from anywhere in the pool. The speed and ability of driver Meg Lenahan can cause teams fits, while Yadi Leon is as tough as they come on the defensive end. Ann Carney is strong in goal, while role players like Meredith Messerle, Beth Kennefick, Kate Knibbs, Kate Brankin, and Kaitlin Kedzior gives head coach Andy Walsh a plethora of options.

Evanston won the only meeting between the two teams this year 11-7.
