Game Preview - Flossmoor (24-4) enters the state tournament after knocking off Andrew 11-2 at their own sectional site. They are hard to stop on offense, with three players able to carry the offensive load at anytime. Lauren Peterson, Meredith Nordbrock, and Kelsey Christensen are a dangerous trio on the offensive end. They are backed by the defense of Amy Thatcher and Samantha Baffes, plus the offensive ability of Amanda Owen. Stephanie Lassen has also been impressive in goal down the stretch of the season for the Vikings.
Naperville North (30-2) advanced to state with a 10-6 win over Naperville Central. The Huskies were undefeated until the last day of the season, where they lost to Stevenson and Flossmoor. Kim Buck has been amazing on offense for North, with 146 goals coming into the state tournament. Sophomore Sarah Fitch is tough on the defensive end for the Huskies, while the speed and ability of players like Kayley Bateman, Brandy Savino, Trisha Meier, and Julie DeBruin make the Huskies a tough matchup. Kelly McCann has been stellar all season long in goal for Naperville North.
The team split their games this season, with North won the first meeting 8-7 and Flossmoor closing the regular season with a 7-6 win over the Huskies at the Stevenson Tournament.
