FACTS & STATS: Site: Stevenson High School -- Lincolnshire, Illinois. 2005 Series Record: McAuley leads, 2-1.

GAME NOTES: Mother McAuley...Mostly everything revos around Maggie Wood, as she will look to get the ball in her hands to set others up to score or draw ejections, plus she can shut down the best offensive players on the defensive end ...Lily Gonzalez is a threat to score both inside and out and must be guarded closely or she can get rolling...Rosie Asfour has assumed the leadership role as a senior and plays a solid overall game...Freshmen Laura Perez and Lily Cortez have made a big impact for the Mighty Macs down the stretch of the season, and they will be joined by frosh Meg Nolan, who stepped up to the Varsity-level and already made a difference in their sectional win over Sandburg...Stephanie Murphy is solid in goal and can also get the offense started with her passing...Elaine Ginger, Ashley Bachler, and Molly Higgins provide the Mighty Macs with valuable minutes and can score in various situations as well...

The Wolfpack finished 21-9 and already defeated Mother McAuley for the first time in their short history earlier this year at the Fenwick Tournament. They will be looking for that same type of performance in this game...Nora Kennelly leads the way on offense, as she scored 129 goals in 2005 and will battle with Wood all game for offensive opportunities...Yadi Leon is solid and reliable on defense, can score from the outside, and helps run the offense...Meredith Messerle has speed and the ability to get out on counterattacks, plus she can score whenever necessary on powerplay chances...Megan Hybinette has filled in nicely in goal since the early part of the season, and the sophomore can make timely saves and has a tremendous arm...Kate Knibbs, Ali Durkin, Kaitlin Kedzior, and Kate Brankin are solid overall players who provide head coach Andy Walsh with depth both in the starting lineup and off the bench...Freshman Maisie O'Malley has had a nice first season and could see a bigger role in the first round matchup at state...

Mother McAuley is on a roll, and their 9-6 win over Ignatius two weeks ago bodes well for their chances of moving on to the Final Four. Ignatius could turn things around after an overtime win over Latin got them here, but the more likely scenario has the Mighty Macs coasting to a victory.
