Well, it doesn't get any bigger or any more traditional than this. Fenwick and Brother Rice resume their rivalry with state semifinal berth on the line. The Crusaders won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this season, but Fenwick earned a bit of revenge by beating Rice in the Catholic League title game. The teams are lined up for introductions and the crowd is starting to fill up at Stevenson. And the starting lineups are in:

Mulcrone wins the swimoff for Rice but the Crusaders cannot get a shot attempt on their first possession

The trams trade possessions until Gallo's shot attempt from the right side hits the post and Freeman recovers

After a Rice turnover, Farmer looks to score from 2m but Davis comes from out of nowhere to earn a key field block

Tight play early on, with Fenwick having the two best scoring chances

Francisco blocks Pikula's shot from the left side out of bounds and Rice still with possession

Stelnicki with a great chance at 2m but Francisco makes a tremendous save to keep the game scoreless

Tons of pressure from the Crusaders, as Francisco is forced to avoid a turnover along the side of the pool

Huening gets open on the left post and draws a penalty! Rigali converts to the left side and it's 1-0 Fenwick!

Huening with another chance in front but Freeman makes the save

Freeman with a second straight save for Rice after an ejection to keep the score at 1-0

Francisco makes a save on the other end and leads Rigali for a breakaway goal and a 2-0 Fenwick lead!

The teams trade possessions as we head to the final minute of the opening period

Freeman catches a late shot by Farmer and fires a shot at the buzzer that gets deflected but Francisco knocks it down

Joslyn nearly gets an open look at 5m but the Fenwick defense prevents a shooting chance and goes the other way

Davis fights for a loose ball on the right post and swerves a left-handed shot into the back of the net for Rice!

Stelnicki with a steal; Francisco with a save; Rice ejection...Freeman save!

Davis drives to 2m and finds Pikula open at 7m, and he draws an ejection before Rice calls timeout

Lob attempt from the right side from Davis goes wide left

Osborne draws an ejection but the ball slips out of his hand just as he was about to shoot from the right post

Stelnicki gives Rice their first lead with a shot from 7m! 3-2 Brother Rice

Huening drives directly to the goal and draws a penalty! Rigali skips his shot past Freeman to tie the game at 3-3

After the teams trade turnovers, Davis slides a shot past Francisco from 5m and Rice leads again 4-3!

Francisco hits the crossbar from his own goal, the ball bounces out to Davis...

...and he lofts a shot from midpool that finds Francisco out of position and it goes in at the buzzer!

The buzzer sounded as the shot by Davis was in midair. You could hear a collective hush from the crowd. And then...

...sheer pandemonium! This place is rocking after a 5-1 run by Brother Rice has them ahead 5-3 at halftime.

Five minutes of halftime for everyone to catch their breath as the second half should be a cracking good time!

Brown draws a penalty on a drive on the other end and Fenwick can tie the game at the 4:51 mark

No problem for Rigali, who shoots to the bottom left corner and we are tied at 5-5!

Herbstritt finds Farmer driving to the left post and he catches and shoots with a defender all over him to make it 6-5!

Davis skips a shot that deflects off Francisco and catches the crossbar

Fenwick draws an ejection on the other end and Brown notches his first goal to make the score 7-5 Fenwick

Stelnicki draws an ejection and Davis assists Joslyn on a goal from 5m out to cut the lead to 7-6

The teams trade possessions twice without scoring on either end

Dan scores from 5m on a shot that just touched Freeman and found the back of the net

Davis fires a shot from the left side in the closing seconds of the period but Francisco makes a save

Whichever team can put together a run in the final quarter could decide the outcome of this game...

Osborne draws a kickout and Gallo fires one into the left corner to give Fenwick a 9-7 lead!

Breakaway chance for Farmer and he fires a shot into the left corner as two quick goals put Fenwick ahead 10-7!
