Just in case you tuned in at 7:00pm expecting to see a scoring update from the night's third game...we are about 15 min behind schedule. The teams are just lining up for introductions at 7:15pm. Let's play past midnight! Why not? Anyways, we should be in for a tightly-contested matchup between Loyola and Mundelein once we get things underway. The teams' starters are as follows:

Mundelein: Dickinson, Horsch, P. Falconer, S. Falconer, Davidson, Lukacs, Mandas

Loyola: Hermes, Stein, Nickele, Freedman, Considine, Dowdle, Toops

Swimoff goes to Loyola, but Mundelein forces a turnover

Dickinson passes ahead to Davidson, who finds Sean Falconer driving to the right post and he makes it 1-0 Mundelein

Toops makes a steal and heads the other way, but he runs into a wall and turns the ball over

Pat Falconer drives to the right post, turns, and shoots but right at Hermes, who makes a close-up save

This time Falconer converts from outside 5m and the Mustangs go ahead 2-0

Scramble in front of the Mundelein net, but Freedman is denied by two converging defenders

Lukacs gets open inside 5m and bounces a shot in off the left post to lead 3-0!

Dowdle gets Loyola on the scoreboard with a goal from outside 5m

Hulseman lobs a shot off the crossbar; Falconer lofts a shot from the right corner that hits the bar and goes out

Offensive foul on Loyola; Stein forces a turnover on the other end

Davidson strips Toops, swims ahead, then takes a pass from Mandas and drills a shot in from 7m!

Hermes blocks a shot by Lukacs at the buzzer, but Mundelein leads 4-1 after seven minutes

Mundelein starts the quarter with the ball, draws an ejection, but Hermes denies a chance from 2m by Horsch

Dickinson comes out of the net to try and prevent a shot by Considine, the shot softly lands at the goal line but Dickinson gets to it just in the nick of time and throws a backhand towards the side of the pool as Considine applied pressure

Loyola gets it back, but Freedman's shot bounces off the left post. So close for Loyola on two straight chances.

Finally...Dowdle scores a much-deserved goal for the Ramblers as they have been applying a ton of pressure

Davidson responds with a goal from the right side of 5m, putting Mundelein ahead 5-2

Hermes ahead to Murphy on a breakaway and he gets it past Dickinson to cut the lead to 5-3

Once again, Davidson has the answer, as he scores from the 5m mark to put Mundelein on top 6-3

Hulseman's lob attempt from the left side just misses the right corner

Hermes makes a save on Davidson's 5m chance; Hulseman forces a turnover AND draws an ejection

Lukacs drives to 2m but gets tripled-teamed and Loyola takes over possession

After an ejection, Considine lofts a pass to the left post and Stein tips it in to cut the lead to 6-4

Davidson rocks the right post and Hermes gets to the rebound

Pat Falconer finds the right side of the cage to his liking and scores to make it 7-4 late in the half

Anderson draws an ejection and Mundelein calls a timeout to setup a play in the final eleven seconds of the half

Stein forces a turnover in front of Mundelein's goal and assists Nickele on a goal from 2m

Horsch responds with a goal from the left post near 2m

After an ejection, Considine hits the post but Freedman is there to push home the rebound

Toops with a perimeter steal and he goes the distance, lofting a shot over Dickinson to cut the lead to 10-7

Loyola's counterattack leads to a penalty! And Dowdle slams it into the right corner to make it 10-8

On Loyola's next possession, they draw an ejection in transition; Dowdle finds Nickele on the right post and he scores to make the score 10-9. The Ramblers' are on fire and Mundelein will need to talk this over. Can they stop the Loyola momentum?

Considine has a chance to tie the score but shoots over the goal

Falconer draws a foul and scores from 5m to put Mundelein back on top by two scores late in the third period

Toops finds Considine open at 2m and he scores from there and the lead is trimmed back down to one goal

Freedman passes from his own end to Murphy inside 5m, and he catches and shoots in one motion to make it 13-12!

The teams head to the final quarter separated by just one goal after the teams traded scores in the final eleven seconds.

After giving up eight goals in the third quarter, the Mustangs applied solid defensive pressure and held the Ramblers scoreless in the final period to advance to the state semifinals.
