The was only one tournament on the schedule for this weekend, but the results were of great importance even at this early stage of the season. Read below to find out more:

Lyons Tournament

Lyons held off Stevenson 8-6, survived a scare from Waubonsie Valley in a 6-4 thriller, and outlasted Evanston 12-4 to win their own tournament on Saturday in LaGrange.

In the first game, Claire Curran and Lizzy Kosin each scored 3 goals and the Lions used a 3-1 run in the second half to pull away from Stevenson to earn an 8-6 win in the tournament opener. The complete game report provides a full breakdown of the action.

Waubonsie Valley proved to be a difficult challenge for LT, as the Warriors' Alex White scored after an ejection to tie the game at 4-4 in the fourth quarter. In the final minute, however, Carly Strass found Carrie Nacht open on a drive to the right post and Nacht slotted her shot into the right corner to give Lyons a 5-4 lead with 0:42 remaining. On Waubonsie's next possession, Nacht forced a turnover on the perimeter that Kosin collected and went the distance to score and put the game away with 0:20 left to play.

In their last game, Lyons jumped out to a 6-1 halftime lead en route to a 12-4 victory over Evanston. Nacht and Kosin each scored 3 goals in the win, while Katie Calvert scored 2 times and Grace Trilla made 9 saves for LT.

Stevenson finished the day with a 2-1 record after earning wins over Evanston and Waubonsie. Patriots' goalie Lisa Michalowski held Waubonsie to just one goal in the day's final game, a 9-1 win for Stevenson. The Patriots also held off Evanston 12-10.

Evanston finished the day with a 1-2 record, earning a 12-5 win over Lockport before falling to Lyons and Stevenson. In the win, Ellis O'Connor scored 7 times and Sarah Thompson added 3 scores.
