Week 8 Ballers

 

BOYS

Chris Hodges/Kyle Plotsky (Stevenson)

Hodges and Plotsky combined to score 18 goals over the weekend, propelling the Patriots to a fourth-place showing at their own event. The hosts beat New Trier, Oak Park, and Palatine to finish the weekend with a 3-1 mark. The duo also scored 4 total goals in a 10-7 win over St Ignatius earlier in the week.

 

Dan Kelly/Matt Farmer (Fenwick)

Farmer recorded 14 goals and Kelly added 9 scores as the Friars went 3-1 and finished in second place at Stevenson's Tournament. The Friars beat Brother Rice, Mundelein, and New Trier over the weekend. Farmer also led the Friars with 3 goals in a win over Latin earlier in Week 8.

 

Dennis Herron (Naperville Central)

Herron totaled 9 goals in wins over Mundelein and Palatine on Saturday, helping the Redhawks finish the day with a perfect mark after two losses on Friday. He totaled 14 goals for the entire Stevenson Tournament. Herron also scored 9 times in a 16-13 win over H-F earlier in the week.

 

Jordan Palmer (New Trier)

The Trevians' junior registered 17 goals at the Stevenson Tournament, leading New Trier to wins over Mundelein and Oak Park on Saturday.

 

Joe Shannon (Lyons)

Shannon recorded 14 goals in the Lions' run to the title at the Stevenson Tournament over the weekend. He led the team with 6 scores in a win over Brother Rice, notched 2 scores in Saturday's 6-5 win over Fenwick, and totaled 6 scores in wins over Oak Park and Naperville Central on Friday night.

 

Kevin Mayer (Brother Rice)

Mayer totaled 13 goals in the opening round of Stevenson's Tournament on Friday, helping the Crusaders earn wins over Palatine and Stevenson. He also tallied 5 goals in a loss to Lyons in the championship round.

 

Kevin Patterson (Neuqua Valley)

Patterson tallied 9 goals at the Conant Tourney on Saturday, lifting the Wildcats' to a 3-1 mark and a three-way tie for the best record at the event. He also scored 5 goals and made 11 saves in an early week win over York.

 

Ryan Haman (Conant)

The Cougars' goaltender allowed just 11 goals in 4 games over the weekend, helping his team win their own tourney with victories over Maine West, Neuqua Valley, and Saint Viator. Haman blocked 11 shots in the tournament title game, an 11-3 victory over Neuqua.

 

Tommy Keefe (Libertyville)

Keefe poured in 10 goals at the Conant Tournament, helping the Wildcats finish with a 3-1 record and including a 4-3 win over the actual event winner, Conant, on Saturday morning.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Caitlin Parisi (R-B)

Parisi blocked 32 shots and amassed 17 steals as R-B won the Independent Tournament on Saturday. She also recorded a shutout win over Argo at the event.

 

Cheyenne DeGraff/Jenna Tasic (LWN)

The Phoenix duo combined to score 17 goals to lead their team to the Hinsdale Central Tournament title on Saturday. The pair helped North earn wins over Naperville North, STC East, and STC North.

 

Claire Bultema (STC North)

Bultema tallied 7 scores to help lift the North Stars to a 2-1 record and a second-place finish at the Hinsdale Central Tournament on Saturday. She also scored 4 times in the team's 17-3 victory over rival STC East earlier in the week.

 

Elizabeth Williams (Oak Park)

Williams led the Huskies with 9 goals at the Lane Tourney, lifting OPRF to a third-place finish at the event. She totaled 4 scores in a 7-5 victory over Prospect and tacked on 3 scores in a 9-8 triumph over Latin in the final round.

 

Leah Malsom (Wheeling)

Malsom recorded 13 goals in Wheeling's 3-0 run to the Lane Tournament title on Saturday, helping the Wildcats earn wins over the hosts, Latin, and New Trier. She also racked up 9 goals in wins over GBS and Prospect during Week 8.

 

Tess Adamonis (H-F)

Adamonis recorded the game-tying and game-winning goals in the Vikings' 8-7 overtime win over Lincoln-Way Central. The senior has amassed over 60 steals on the defensive end and her heroics helped H-F take control of the SWSC Blue title race entering Week 9.
