PERIOD 1

-Both teams struggle to find a good shot in the opening minute, then Gilani makes a good save for SHS

-George Finn finds a wide open Jack Nickele driving to the goal and he puts Loyola on the board first

-Stevenson's next attempt goes over the goal and the Ramblers take over possession

-Andrew Shashin passes out of 2m to Mitchell Sokolsky, but Ragen Murphy makes a block

-Sokolsky gets open for a breakaway chance and he doesn't miss those; game tied at 1-1

-Shashin hits the crossbar and the ball goes over the goal

-Murphy and Nickele force a turnover at 2m and Loyola counters

-Shewchuck draws an ejection on the right post and assists Matt Kearney on a goal from the left post

-Shewchuck drew another ejection but the Stevenson defense collapes to force a turnover

-The Patriots misfire wide right on the opposite end as the final minute has arrived

-The teams trade turnovers in the final minute and Gilani makes a late save for Stevenson

-Prince also blocked a shot at the buzzer for Loyola

-LOYOLA 2 STEVENSON 1

 

PERIOD 2

-Sokolsky opens the period with a breakaway chance and he stops and lobs one into the right corner

-Shewchuck draws an ejection and Finn assists him on a goal from the left side; Loyola 3-2

-The Patriots turn it over, Shewchuck draws an ejection on the counter, but Schermerhorn shoots over

-Dan Maleski finds some space and delivers his first goal of the tournament to tie the game at 3-3

-Maleski makes a steal on the other end for Stevenson

-Nickele drives to the right post and slots a shot into the right corner; 4-3 Loyola

-Gilani makes a save as Loyola had a powerplay opportunity but couldn't convert

-Prince elevates to knock Maleski's shot over the goal, Shashin draws an ejection, Stevenson timeout

-Timeout (1:07 remaining)

-Shewchuck makes a steal on the perimeter and draws an ejection on his own on the counterattack

-Timeout (1:00 remaining)

-Gilani makes a save and recovers the loose ball before Loyola can get a rebound chance

-The Ramblers with a stop and will get the final chance of the first half...

-Ragen Murphy scores from 7m out and Loyola will take a 5-3 lead into halftime!

LOYOLA 5 STEVENSON 3

 

PERIOD 3

-Stevenson comes up short on their first possession, but they force a turnover on the other end

-The teams trade steals and then turnovers until Finn finds Baker open on the left and he makes it 6-3

-Baker scores again from the same spot and Loyola has pulled out to a 7-3 lead

-Kearney turns his defender but has his shot tipped over the bar with Sokolsky draped on his back

-Shewchuck draws an ejection but Gilani blocks Baker's shot from the left side

-Sokolsky scores his third goal with a lob from the left side near 7m; Loyola 7-4

-Shewchuck has the answer from 4m and Loyola goes back ahead by four midway through Q3

-Timeout (3:14 remaining)

-The Ramblers force a turnover, Finn draws an ejection and then fires a laser in from 7m

-Zach Stephens gets a good look from the right post but Trevor Prince makes a block

-Stephens doesn't miss from 4m the next time down as the Patriots cut the lead to 9-5

-Baker makes a block on Stephens' late shot as the period comes to an end

LOYOLA 9 STEVENSON 5

 

PERIOD 4

-Gilani tips a shot off the crossbar on Loyola's first chance; Prince makes a save on the other end

-Finn draws an ejection that eventually leads to a penalty, but Gilani stonewalls Shewchuck from 5m

-Prince deflects a lob out-of-bounds; Liam Holzer shoots over the goal from 7m

-Kearney misfires over the goal from close range after an ejection

-This time Kearney is true with his shot from 4m, finding the left corner from the right side

-Shewchuck earns a field block on Sokolsky's 7m shot and Loyola takes over

-Shewchuck then scores from inside 5m on the other end and Loyola leads 11-5

-Timeout (3:48 remaining)

-Stevenson has drawn blanks on their last two possessions while the Ramblers look to run some clock

-Timeout (2:57 remaining)

-Gilani denies Nickele from close range on the right post but Nickele gets the rebound and scores!

-Shashin draws an ejection and Sokolsky delivers a goal from 7m to cut the lead to 12-6

-Baker scores his third goal from the left side and the Ramblers lead 13-6 with just over one minute left

-Prince makes a save and holds the ball to run the clock down close to the end of regulation

-Time runs out on Stevenson's chances and Loyola advances to the state title game!

GAME RECAP

 

Loyola 13 Stevenson 6

Cameron Shewchuck, Jack Nickele, and Tom Baker each scored 3 goals and Matt Kearney added 2 scores as the Ramblers defeated Stevenson 13-6 to advance to the state title game against Fenwick. George Finn and Ragen Murphy each added one goal in the win for Loyola. Mitchell Sokolsky registered 4 scores and both Dan Maleski and Zach Stephens each tallied one score in the loss for the Patriots.
