QUARTERFINAL #1

Stevenson 9 St Ignatius 7

The top two teams in the state meet in a quarterfinal round clash to kick off the state tournament.

The undefeated Patriots are seeking their first IHSA state title after a pair of runner-up finishes over the past decade. They won all three of their sectional games by double-digits and responded to an early goal by Palatine with a 14-0 run that lasted the rest of the game in the sectional finals.

The Wolfpack will be looking to get back in the winner's circle after placing second in 2014 just one year after they won the state title for the first time in 2013. They bounced back from their only loss of the year by winning the Catholic League and then getting past Evanston 4-1 to claim their own sectional.

The event hosts won the only meeting between the two teams 8-6 in late April and have posted 33 wins to this point, claiming the BG Sectional title with a convincing 14-1 win over Palatine.
