Week 2 Ballers

BOYS

Alex Kapecki/Kurt Holzer (Stevenson)

The Patriots' pair totaled 17 goals as Stevenson claimed a third-place finish at the Fenwick Tournament after wins over LWE, Napaerville North, and St Ignatius.

 

Frank Skorski/Keegan Finn (St Viator)

Finn totaled 16 goals and Skorski made 40 saves to help the Lions win the Evanston Tournament with a 5-0 record.

 

Colin Havorka/Mike Brennan (Andrew)

The T-Bolts goaltenders combined to make 27 saves and let in just 4 goals in three games as Andrew won the Hinsdale South Tournament on Saturday. They also pitched a shutout in a 5-0 title-game win over STC East.

 

Eric Johnson (St Rita)

Johnson registered 18 goals to help the Mustangs finish in third place at the eight-team Schaumburg Tournament after wins over LWW, McHenry, and Young.

 

Eric Johnson/Pat Melaniphy (Lockport)

Johnson totaled 15 goals, including a 5-goal performance in a 6-5 title game win over Lindbergh, as the Porters won the Mundelein Tournament. Meanwhile, Melaniphy stopped 43 shots and allowed four goals per game on the other end for Lockport.

 

Jake Burke/Pat Burke (LWC)

Pat led the Knights with 9 goals in wins over STC North, Waubonsie Valley, and LWN while Jake blocked 25 shots and allowed only 5 goals per game as LWC won their first tournament in team history at LWN.

 

James Birriel/Tyler Gustafson (Schaumburg)

Gustafson totaled 14 goals and Birriel notched 11 scores as the Saxons outlasted Lafayette in sudden death overtime to win their own event at the end of Week 2.

 

Joe Lawrence/Nick Walker (Naperville Central)

Walker recorded 14 goals and Lawrence made 23 saves as the Redhawks finished in second place at the Fenwick Tournament over the weekend.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Abby Warren (Lake Forest)

Warren recorded 13 goals to lead the Scouts to wins over Andrew, Hoffman, and STC North as Lake Forest win the STC North Tournament on Saturday. She also tallied 6 goals in a mid-weed victory over Maine West.

 

Caroline Wojtas (Palatine)

The Pirates' senior led all scorers at the GBS Tournament with 18 goals as Palatine won the event with a 3-0 mark. She also recorded 12 goals earlier in the week against Conant and Hoffman.

 

Erin Pletch/Sara Luedloff (Meadows)

Luedloff and Pletch both recorded 13 goals to help lead the Mustangs to the Jones-Payton Tournament title. Luedloff also connected on the eventual game-winning goal in a 10-9 title game win over the hosts on Saturday. The duo also combined to score 6 goals in a 7-4 win over Elk Grove on Tuesday.

 

Jilly Cronin (Oak Park)

The Huskies' junior totaled 12 goals as the team earned wins over DLS, R-B, and Young to win the R-B Tournament over the weekend. She also scored 4 times to lead OPRF past Homewood-Flossmoor on Tuesday.

 

Kalin Bender (Maine South)

Bender led the Hawks in scoring (18 goals) and still found time to make an impact in goal as Maine South won their own tournament with a 4-0 record over the weekend. She also netted 5 goals in a 14-7 win over Vernon Hills on Monday and stopped 12 shots in a 7-4 victory over Maine East on Tuesday.

 

Katherine Rogers (Deerfield)

Rogers amassed 17 goals for the Warriors at the Maine South Tournament and helped her team secure their first win of the 2015 campaign over STC East.

 

Diana Fernandez/Stephania Lopez (St Ignatius)

Lopez totaled 11 goals and Fernandez notched 10 scores as the Wolfpack beat H-F, Mother McAuley, and the hosts to claim the Naperville Central Tournament title.
