week in water polo action in Illinois. This is not a complete list; the purpose is to recognize several
of the best performances from across the state that have been reported.

Nicole Conway (Waubonsie Valley)
Biggest Impact Plays
Brendan Atwood (Maine West)
Atwood scored at the buzzer at the end of regulation to send the Warriors
past Evanston 12-11 on Wednesday night.
Gilberto Moreno (DLS)
Moreno scored the eventual game-winning goal for DLS on Wednesday night in
a 7-6 victory over St Patrick.
Cassidy Degraff (LWN)
Degraff turned two defenders to score from close range at the start of the
fourth quarter to break an 11-11 tie with LWE; the Phoenix followed with a
7-2 to run to close out the game as they won the LWE Tournament.
Maria Campbell (Waubonsie Valley)
Campbell scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime to send the
Warriors past Metea Valley 9-8 on Tuesday evening.
Sarah Lewand (York)
Lewand's goal at the end of the first overtime session helped proper York
past Hinsdale Central 9-5 on Wednesday.
Top Goalie Performances
Brian Johnson (Glenbrook South)
Johnson stepped up once again when needed as the goalie made 14 saves in
the Titans' 6-3 victory over Loyola; the Titans moved to 9-0 in 2016 after
the mid-week victory.
Jake Burke (LWC)
Burke earned a shutout win after making 9 saves against Shepard on
Claire Connors (LWE)
Connors did not allow a goal in the Griffins' tournament-opening win over
Andrew and conceded just 5 scores to help LWE beat LWW on Thursday night.
She also made several key stops to keep her team in the game against LWN
in the event's title game.
Mariah Dicksen (Lockport)
Dicksen's 16-save performance helped the Porters secure a win over
Richards on the final day of the LWE Tournament on Saturday.
Mia Sterchele (LWN)
Sterchele earned three straight wins at the LWE Tourney over the weekend,
allowing just one goal in an opening round win over R-B and allowing less
than six goals per game at the event.
The Panthers enter Monday night's contest with Whitney Young with a
perfect 12-0 record after securing another win over Jones-Payton earlier
in the week.
The T-Bolts picked up their first victory of the season on Thursday after
beating a Lockport team that entered the LWE Tournament with a 5-3 record.
News and Notes
The IHSA announced the
eight sites for the 2016 Sectional Playoffs on March 24.
According to recent history, the IHSA will likely announce the sectional
assignments this coming week or sometime shortly thereafter.
Spring Break Concludes/Continues
A large contingent of schools have wrapped up their Spring Break holidays
and will be back in action during Week 4, though a handful of schools will
be just getting underway with their break following the Easter holiday.
