The following is a summary of what took place during the most recent week in water polo action in Illinois. This is not a complete list; the purpose is to recognize several of the best performances from across the state that have been reported.

Biggest Impact Plays

BOYS

Matt Zalesko made a late-game steal and assisted Eric Krawczyk on the game-winning goal in the final minute of the Porters' 8-7 triumph over H-F.

GIRLS

News and Notes

Sectional Assignments

The 2016 sectional assignments were announced by the IHSA last week and can be found here: Boys | Girls

Spring Break Wraps Up

Most of the schools (except mine) have completed their Spring Break vacation, so expect the Week 5 schedule and especially the weekend tournament schedule to really pick up as the regular season nears the halfway mark.

State Tournament Bracket Drawing

The next announcement the IHSA should be the state tournament bracket drawing, where the sectional winners are paired up for the state quarterfinal round via a blind draw. In the past, the announcement has been made in mid-April.

Super Ballers

BOYS

George Lundgren (Lyons)

Sam Szczepaniak (Lyons)

GIRLS

Catie Wallace (Fenwick)
