IHSA Announces State Tournament Brackets

Note #1: The following brackets for the state tournament were posted by the IHSA on April 29.

Note #2: The brackets listed are the same as the 2019 State Playoffs, so this may be an error posted by the IHSA on their web site.

Note #3: Considering that the state playoffs begin on May 9, 2022...these will remain posted in case these are the matchups being used, otherwise we will update the actual pairings when they are announced. These are the listed state tournament pairings as of May 1, 2022:

BOYS STATE QUARTERFINALS
Game #1: GBS Sectional vs H-F Sectional
Game #2: Lyons Sectional vs St Ignatius Sectional
Game #3: BG Sectional vs Neuqua Sectional
Game #4: Conant Sectional vs York Sectional

GIRLS STATE QUARTERFINALS
Game #1: BG Sectional vs St Ignatius Sectional
Game #2: Lyons Sectional vs York Sectional
Game #3: Neuqua Sectional vs H-F Sectional
Game #4: GBS Sectional vs Conant Sectional

The IHSA utilizes a blind draw to determine the pairings for the state tournament. The first team drawn is placed on the first position of an eight-team bracket and every team drawn after that fills the next spot in the bracket.

In the above listing, the winner of Game 1 will play the winner of Game 2 in the state semifinals, while the winner of Game 3 plays the winner of Game 4 in the second semifinal game.
