NORTHSIDE TOURNAMENT

Northside Captures Own Tournament Crown

Northside Prep went 3-1 at their own five-team tournament and won the tournament title after earning an 11-9 win over York earlier on Saturday. The Dukes also finished with a 3-1 record, but the tiebreaker was a simple head-to-head component that put the Mustangs on top.

Northside 12 Oak Park 10

Rhyan White broke a 5-5 tie in the third quarter and Northside eventually pulled away from Oak Park to earn a 12-10 victory in the first game of the Mustangs' annual tournament. Megan Gillespie tallied 4 goals and White contributed 3 scores in the win for the hosts. The Huskies' Katie Appell (7 goals) cut the lead to 10-9 late in the fourth quarter, but Gillespie responded with 2 quick goals to seal the Northside win.

 

York 8 Marian 7

Carly Redmond scored 2 goals in the fourth quarter to help York edge Marian 8-7 in the second game of the NSP Tournament. Redmond and Katie Nelson both tallied 3 scores in the win for the Dukes. Sophie Sesto recorded 2 goals in the losing effort for the Spartans.

 

Oak Park 10 Hinsdale South 5

Katie Appell scored 6 times and Rebecca Robinson added 2 scores as Oak Park raced out to a 10-0 lead at the half en route to a 10-5 victory over Hinsdale South.

 

Northside 11 York 9

Rhyan White scored 3 goals and Meghan Quigley added 2 goals to help the hosts bounce back from an early 3-0 deficit to earn an 11-9 victory over York. Katie Nelson led the Dukes with 3 goals in the loss.

 

Marian 13 Hinsdale South 8

Sophie Sesto totaled 5 goals and Paige Wieser added 4 scores to lead Marian to a 13-8 win over Hinsdale South. Claire Manley and Emma Smoczynski each tallied 3 goals in the loss for the Hornets.

 

York 13 Oak Park 6

Carly Redmond scored 3 goals in the third period to help the Dukes pull away from Oak Park and earn a 13-6 win on Saturday.

 

Marian 13 Northside 11

Tori Fuentes scored 5 goals and Nikki Panazzo and Paige Wieser each added 2 scores as the Spartans held off the Mustangs 13-11 on Saturday. Rhyan White scored 4 goals in the loss for NSP.

 

York 19 Hinsdale South 10

Carly Redmond recorded 7 goals and Katie Nelson added 6 scores in York's 19-10 win over the Hornets. Claire Manley led HS with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

Oak Park 9 Marian 7

Katie Appell scored 3 times and Elizabeth Williams added 2 goals as OPRF jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in a 9-7 win over Marian. Tori Fuentes recorded 5 goals in the losing cause.

 

Northside 12 Hinsdale South 9

Megan Quigley and Meghan Gillespie both scored 4 times as the hosts earned their third victory of the tournament in beating Hinsdale South 12-9. Nicole Blachowicz led the Hornets with 4 tallies.
