Stagg Beats Hinsdale Central To Win Tournament

Both Stagg and Hinsdale Central went 3-0 in the preliminary round of the Stagg Tournament to advance to the first place game. The hosts emerged victorious in the final game by a 13-10 score, with Juan Valdez coming up big with 5 goals and 4 steals for the Chargers. Bradley beat St Rita 12-3 in the third place game, STC North knocked off Young 16-12 for fifth place, and Morton beat R-B 10-8 for seventh place.

Stagg 19 STC North 9

Juan Valdez poured in 10 goals to lead the Chargers to a 19-9 victory over STC North, their second win of the evening. Justin Simmonds led the North Stars with 4 goals, while Joey Chokran (11 goals in two games) added 2 scores in the losing effort.

Joey Chokran scored 6 times and Eli Broxham stopped 14 shots in STC North's 10-7 win over R-B.

STC North 16 Whitney Young 12

Joey Chokran recorded 9 goals and Nick Traxler (4 goals) scored 2 key fourth period goals to help the North Stars finish in fifth place at the Stagg Tournament with a 2-2 record.

Stagg 13 Hinsdale Central 10

Juan Valdez totaled 5 goals and 4 steals to lead Stagg to their own tournament title with a 13-10 win over Hinsdale Central.
