STATE QUARTERFINAL RECAPS
New Trier 17 Whitney Young 6

Noah Wendt registered 6 goals while both Hank Woodman and Will Moran scored 3 times as the Trevians got past Whitney Young 17-6 to advance to the IHSA State semifinal round. Damian Garcia scored 3 goals and Aleksander Dale netted 2 goals in the loss for the Dolphins.

 

Lyons 10 Fremd 7

The Lions scored the game-winning goal with 2:08 left in regulation and added two goals in the final minute to close the game on a 5-0 run to earn a 10-7 victory over Fremd to advance to the IHSA State semifinals. More statistics and information coming soon...

 

York 22 LWW 8

Gavin Honken and Nick Kamenica both scored 6 goals and Martin Polomsky notched 4 scores as the Dukes defeated LWW 22-8 to advance to the IHSA State semifinal round. Ian Kettelson scored 4 goals in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Stevenson 16 Naperville North 9

Filip Wal totaled 4 goals and Olin Kusevskis netted 3 scores as the Patriots knocked off Naperville North 16-9 to advance to the IHSA State semifinals. Dylan Kreimer, Josh Moreyno, Kunal Rajadhyax and Max LaPointe-St Georges each scored 2 goals in the winning effort. Jack Reif scored 4 goals for the Huskies, who led 4-3 after the first period before relinquishing the lead before halftime. Brett Grady and Jacob Podkasik also scored 2 times in the loss for North.

 

STATE SEMIFINAL RECAPS

New Trier 9 Lyons 6

The Trevians jumped out to a 5-0 halftime lead and held on to beat Lyons 9-6 to earn a berth in the boys' state title game. Hank Goodman scored 3 times and both Noah Wendt and Thomas Dean scored 2 goals as the Trevians. Alex Bailey and Harry Roberts each added one goal for the winners. Brendan Whelton totaled 3 goals while the trio of Sam Garvin, Sean Gripp and Michael Wall each tallied one score in the loss for the Lions.

 

Stevenson 12 York 8

Andrew Mossman scored 4 goals, Max LaPointe-St Georges notched 3 scores and Olin Kusevskis put in 2 goals as the Patriots defeated York 12-8 to advance to the boys' state title game. Filip Wall, Josh Moreyno and Kunal Rajadhyax each added one goal and Armaan Gill blocked 11 shots in the winning effort. Gavin Honken tallied 3 scores, Martin Polomsky added 2 goals and Aiden Reedy made 14 saves in the loss for the Dukes.

 

STATE CONSOLATION GAME

Lyons 8 York 6

Louis Grib and Sean Gripp both scored 3 goals to help the Lions get past York 8-6 to claim a third-place trophy over WSC-rival York 8-6. Brendan Whelton and Sami Rabah also scored once in the win for LT. Charlie McKenna, Gavin Honken and Nick Kamenica each scored 2 times in the loss for the Dukes.

 

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

New Trier 10 Stevenson 6

Q1: Thomas Dean connected on a backhand shot with 1:39 left in Q1 and Noah Wendt added a goal in the final minute as New Trier leads Stevenson 2-0 heading to Q2 in the boys' state title game!

New Trier 2 Stevenson 0

 

Q2: Kunal Rajadhyax scored 2 times to help Stevenson get within one goal of the Trevians, but Noah Wendt scored 2 goals and Will Moran added a late goal to give New Trier a 5-3 with two minutes left until halftime. Dylan Kreimer closed the period with a goal from outside 7m with :04 left to trim the New Trier lead down to 5-4 at the break.

New Trier 5 Stevenson 4

 

Q3: Alex Bailey scored from the point after a Stevenson ejection as the Trevians took a 6-4 lead at the 3:31 mark. Caden Adrianopoli added another score in transition for New Trier to make the score 7-4 as Stevenson called timeout...Jack Curtin delivered a goal in the final minute for the Patriots to cut the lead to 7-5 heading into the final quarter.

Q4: Caden Adrianopoli scored in the opening minute to give the Trevians an 8-5 lead. Wendt drew a penalty and converted from 5m to make the score 9-5. Rajadhyax recorded a hat trick with a goal midway through the period. The teams traded possessions but the Patriots could not make a dent in the Trevians lead and New Trier called timeout with 1:15 remaining while holding a three-goal lead.

STATE QUARTERFINAL RECAPS
Hersey 5 Lane 3

Andrea Teves scored the game-winner with 1:55 left in the final period and Victoria Wrona (3 goals) added a late insurance goal to help the Huskies advance to the IHSA State semifinals with a 5-3 win over Lane. The Indians overcame a 2-0 deficit with a 3-0 run that started with a goal in the final seconds of the third period. After relinquishing the lead, the Huskies closed the game with a 3-0 run of their own to claim the victory. Wrona led the Huskies with 3 goals while Anastasia Smirnova stopped 13 shots for the victors. Martha Palmentera-Reid scored 2 times and Jo Olson scored once in the losing effort.

 

Mother McAuley 7 Naperville North 6

Bella Morquecho, Ella Mulchrone and Kira Jacobsen each scored 2 goals while Becca Enquist stopped 11 shots as the Mighty Macs edged Naperville North 7-6 to advance to the IHSA State semifinals. Kelsey Wessel and Payton Schrier each scored 2 goals in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Stevenson 13 Sandburg 4

Becca Stone recorded 4 goals while Camila Maya, Elise Regalado, Olivia Spieth and Sophia Berger each put in 2 scores in the Patriots 13-4 win over Sandburg to advance to the IHSA State semifinals. Claire Donnell, Madison Grech, Maureen Flannery and Payton Van Drunen all scored once in the loss for the Eagles.

 

York 9 New Trier 5

Frannie Cunningham and Rose Jensen both scored 3 goals and Eva Graefe stopped 14 shots as the Dukes earned a 9-5 win over New Trier. Charlie Escasa and Seren Uzkan both tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Trevians.

 

STATE SEMIFINAL RECAPS

Mother McAuley 10 Hersey 3

Andi Moriarity registered 3 scores while Bella Morquecho and Ella Mulchrone scored 2 times apiece in the Mighty Macs 10-3 triumph over Hersey. Victoria Wrona tallied 2 scores and Annika Lindberg added one score in the loss for the Huskies.

 

Stevenson 11 York 9

York led Stevenson 5-2, Stevenson went on an 8-0 run to lead 10-5, York is on a 4-0 run to make it 10-9 Stevenson with 2:55 left in Q4 of the state semifinal game after two straight goals from Jane Marlott. Just a state title berth on the line...

 

Olivia Spieth scored with 1:09 left to give the Patriots an 11-9 lead, then Katie Delaney (14 saves) blocked a 5-meter in the final minute to secure the semifinal round win for Stevenson.

 

Belle Cloeter scored 5 goals, Becca Stone and Sophia Berger each tallied 2 scores while Spieth and Camila Maya each added one goal in the winning effort. Jane Marlott and Rose Jensen both scored 3 goals, Frannie Cunningham netted 2 goals and Alyssa Cuevas notched one score in the loss for York.

 

STATE CONSOLATION GAME

York 17 Hersey 8

Rose Jensen recorded 9 goals and Jane Marlott added 3 scores as the Dukes earned a 17-8 victory over Hersey to claim a third-place trophy at the IHSA State Tournament. Annika Lindberg and Claire Corley scored 3 times while Avery Born and Victoria Wrona both added one goal apiece in the loss for the Huskies.

 

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Stevenson 11 Mother McAuley 5

Becca Stone and Camila Maya both scored 4 goals and Katie Delaney made 16 saves as Stevenson defeated Mother McAuley 11-5 to win the 2023 IHSA Girls' State Championship!!!!!! Elise Regalado also scored 2 times and Olivia Spieth added one score in the win for the Patriots. Andi Moriarity tallied 3 scores while Bella Morquecho and Ella Mulchrone each scored once in the loss for the Mighty Macs.
