Week 4 Summary

The following is a summary of what took place during the third week of the season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best performances from each week.

 

Players To Watch

Boys - Robert Hernandez (Curie)

Scored 10 goals in wins over Lane and Von and has led Curie to a 5-0 record in the CPL

Boys - Denzell Blackmon/Curtis Webb (Morgan Park)

The pair totaled 25 goals in wins over Bremen and Lincoln Park

Boys - Mark Krolikiewicz (York)

Led the Dukes in scoring in games against St Patrick and DeSmet (MO) and at the Schaumburg Tournament over the weekend

Girls - Kaylee Meyers (Lincoln-Way Central)

Led the Knights to a 3-0 record at the LWE Tourney by scoring 6 goals in an 8-4 OT win over LWE and 5 scores in an OT win over Andrew

Girls - Maeve O'Connor (Loyola)

Scored 15 goals for the Ramblers at the Fenwick Tournament

 

Biggest Impact

Girls - Lydia Ridgeway (St Ignatius)

Scored the game-winning goal from 9m with :17 seconds left to lead the Wolfpack to a 12-11 win over Sandburg

Girls - Maggie Knowles (Lockport)

Scored the game-winning goal with 0:15 seconds left in a 12-11 win over Marian

Girls - Erin Gibson (Naperville North)

Scored the game-tying goal in regulation and the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Huskies past Lockport 12-11

Girls - Kristen Aucutt (Mundelein)

Scored 4 straight goals, inlcuding the game-winner with :03 seconds left to lift Mundelein to a 9-8 win over Evanston

Girls - Andrea Peterson (Homewood-Flossmoor)

Scored on a drive with :05 seconds left to help H-F finish in an 8-8 tie with New Trier

Girls - Jenn Rinehart (Neuqua Valley)

Scored the game-tying goal as time expired in Neuqua's 12-12 tie with New Trier

 

Top Defensive Performances

Girls - Stephanie Ovalle (Fenwick)

Made countless defensive plays and steals in the Friars' 4-0 tournament performance

Girls - Maggie McShane (Mother McAuley)

Impressive defensive performance helped the Macs defeat Loyola, H-F, and Mundelein over the weekend

Girls - Kelly Kuchta/Jessica Jenkot (Sandburg)

The pair forced a key turnover on Stevenson's last possession in the Eagles' 9-8 win

Girls - Allie Travnik (Lincoln-Way Central)

Recorded 8 steals in the Knights' overtime win over Lincoln-Way East

Boys - Augie Sundermeier (Brother Rice)

Stopped 11 shots in the Crusaders' title game win over Naperville North

Boys - John Onstwedder (York)

Made 16 saves in an 11-5 victory over St Patrick

Girls - Mariclaire Bresnahan (Fenwick)

Made 13 saves in a win over St Ignatius and helped Fenwick finish 4-0 at their own tournament on Friday and Saturday

Girls - Samantha Marotta (Lincoln-Way Central)

Made 25 saves in three games to help the Knights win the LWE Tourney

 

Biggest Surprises

Boys - York

Beat St Pats on Monday and tied Conant at the Schaumburg Tourney

Boys - Schaumburg

Defeated Latin 9-8 and finished in fourth at their own tournament

Girls - Lincoln-Way Central

Went 3-0 at the LWE Tourney, including an 8-4 win over LWE in OT

Girls - Young

Went 2-0-1 at the Northside Tourney, including a 7-7 tie with Oak Park
