Week 3

 

The following is a summary of what took place during the third week of the season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best performances from each week.

 

Players To Watch

Boys - Chris Bowman (Lockport)

Bowman scored 9 times in the Porters' 14-13 upset win over Naperville North on Tuesday.

Boys - James Bartels (New Trier)

Bartels recorded 5 goals as the Trevians knocked off Evanston 17-9.

Girls - Leah Malsom (Wheeling)

Malsom totaled 8 goals in Wheeling's 19-8 win over Lockport at the LT Tournament on Saturday.

Girls - Liz Hadhazy (Stagg)

Hadhazy scored 6 goals in Stagg's 13-7 victory over Shepard.

 

Biggest Impact

Boys - Will Davidson (Mundelein)

Davidson scored the game-winning goal in the third overtime period to give Mundelein an 8-7 victory over Schaumburg.

Boys - Steve Freedman (Loyola)

Freedman's fourth quarter lob shot gave the Ramblers a 10-9 win over St Patrick.

Girls - Taylor Nelson (Lincoln-Way North)

Nelson tallied the game-winning goal in the fourth quarter to give LWN a narrow 4-3 victory over Schaumburg at the Bremen Tournament.

Girls - Celeste Almarez (St Ignatius)

Almarez scored the game-clinching goal in the final period to help St Ignatius beat Mundelein 10-8 on Wednesday.

Girls - Amy Klink (Mundelein)

Scored the game-winner in the final minutes of the Mustangs' 9-7 win over Stevenson

 

Top Goalie Performances

Boys - Sean Kammer (Lockport)

The Porters' goalie stopped 8 shots and added 3 steals and an assist in a 14-13 upset win over Naperville North.

Girls - Sarah Tylka (Mundelein)

Tylka made several stops in the final period and earned an assist on the eventual game-winning goal in the Mustangs' 9-7 win over Stevenson.

Girls - Gena Lopez (Vernon Hills)

Lopez saved 17 shots in the Cougars' 14-8 win over Libertyville.

Girls - Zara Wysockey (New Trier)

Wysockey made 10 saves and added 3 steals in Saturday's 17-9 victory over Prospect.

 

Biggest Surprises

Boys - Glenbrook South

The Titans' 10-8 upset win over Neuqua Valley propelled them into the Top 25 for the first time this season.

Boys - St Viator

The Lions earned a big 14-11 win over Evanston on Friday night.

Boys - Lockport

The Porters edged Naperville North 14-13 to earn their first win over a ranked opponent this year.

Girls - Mundelein

The Mustangs beat Stevenson 9-7 to move into the Top 10.
