THE ILLPOLO REPORT

Week 5

The following is a summary of what took place during the fifth week of the season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best performances from each week.

Players To Watch

Boys - Chris Workman (Hersey)

Workman scored 5 goals in the Huskies 11-9 victory over Conant.

Boys - Mike Gergen (Schaumburg)

Gergen totaled 15 goals over the weekend at the NN Tournament and should be a big contributor on the offensive end in the second half of the season.

Girls - Gena Wendt (Fenwick)

Wendt connected on two outside shots in the Friars' 8-6 comeback win over H-F on Friday, then added 2 more scores in Saturday's 9-5 win over New Trier.

Girls - Jamie Pappanastos (Sandburg)

Pappanastos scored four second-half goals during a 5-0 run that helped Sandburg beat Andrew 14-12 in overtime on Wednesday.

Biggest Impact

Boys - AJ Galainena (Latin)

Galainena totaled 4 goals in the Romans overtime win over Sandburg.

Boys - Petar Jackovich (Lincoln-Way Central)

Scored 6 goals, including a goal and an assist in OT in LWC's 11-10 win over Bradley on Friday.

Girls - Maya Holst (Team)

Holst connected on a lob shot late in the fourth period to lift H-F to a 5-4 win over New Trier on Saturday.

Girls - Tori Shields (Prospect)

Scored the game-winning goal from midpool with one second left to lift Prospect to a 10-9 win over Barrington on Wednesday.

Top Goalie Performances

Boys - David Anderson (Oak Park)

Anderson recorded 31 saves in wins over Latin, McHenry and Stevenson on Saturday.

Boys - Henry Hermes (Loyola)

Hermes made 9 saves in a 14-10 win over GBS and stopped 25 shots in four games at the St Patrick Tournament for the Ramblers.

Girls - Chloe Kaulus (Latin)

Kaulus made 9 saves and blocked a penalty shot in Latin's 6-5 overtime win over Sandburg.

Girls - Grace Trilla (Lyons)

Trilla allowed only 4 goals in 4 games at the Fenwick Tournament as the Lions beat Evanston, Loyola, McAuley, and Neuqua Valley.

Girls - Kaitlyn Webb (Wheeling)

Webb made 11 saves and recorded her first shutout as Wheeling beat Palatine 12-0.
