The girls' state final game will likely start around 8:30pm. And regardless of the winner, we will have a first-time state champion crowned at the end of the night. The teams are lined up and here are the starters:

St Ignatius: Fleming, Stelnicki, Fernandez, Insalaco, Almarez, Leon, Cronin

Lyons: Trilla, Jacobs, Grimes, Kaptur, Ronning, Hoak, Kosin

Ignatius starts with it but a field block by LT gives them their first possession

Grimes tries to find Jacobs at 2m but the pass is knocked away

Lyons with a steal; Grimes draws an ejection but Fleming blocks her shot over the goal

Kosin hits the post but LT gets the rebound; Ronning is left open on the right side and scores to give Lyons an early lead!

Trilla with a save; Ignatius forces a turnover on the other end

Ignatius turnover; Kosin scores from 2m out and Lyons leads 2-0

Jacobs with a steal; Fernandez forces a turnover

Almarez tries her luck from 7m but it goes over the goal

Kosin's outside shot is tipped over the goal by Fleming

Stelnicki draws an ejection; she then assists on Fernandez on a goal from the right side to cut the lead to 2-1

LT turnover near the end of the period; Stelnicki launches a shot that goes wide right as the buzzer sounds

Lyons holds on to a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period

Lyons forces a turnover, earns an ejection, but cannot convert in the first minute of the second period

Almarez earns an ejection; Fernandez slams in her second goal from the right side to tie the game at 2-2

Grimes finds Kosin with position at 2m and the sophomore adds her second goal from there to put Lyons ahead 3-2

Murphy picks up a loose ball in front of the goal and levels the score with her first goal of the tournament

Ronning hits the crossbar from 7m; Fleming denies Grimes on a shot from the right side

Kaptur puts the Lyons back in front with a goal from 2m out!

Murphy is open on the right post after an ejection but Trilla makes a big save!

Fernandez passes across the pool to Stelnicki who fires in a shot from the left side!

Trilla denies Murphy from nearly the same spot and Lyons draws an ejection on the other end

Fleming blocks a shot by Kosin from the left side and Almarez gets to the rebound first

Insalaco tries to shoot from around 4m but it goes wide to the right

Fleming with a save; LT draws an ejection...2m violation by Lyons and Ignatius heads the other way

Kaptur makes a steal; she tries a shot from 7m that Fleming is in place to save

Sweeney shoots wide left from 7m

Ignatius forces a turnover; Stelnicki's 7m shot is saved by Trilla at the buzzer and it's tied 4-4 at the half!

LT forces a turnover on the first Ignatius possession and Jacobs scores on the other end for LT!

Stelnicki draws an ejection; her shot is tipped over by Hoak on the right post

Kaptur earns a penalty shot; her attempt is tipped by Fleming but it still goes in and Lyons leads 6-4!

LT draws an ejection; Ronning hits the crossbar, gets it back, and scores from the right side for a 7-4 lead!

Jacobs nearly gets free at 2m but Stelnicki tips the ball away before she can shoot

Fernandez scores from 9m to get the Wolfpack back within two goals

Kosin responds with a goal from 2m!

Trilla finds Jacobs streaking to the goal and drops a perfect pass in front of her and she scores to make it 9-5!

More explanation needed later, but Ignatius had a player with three fouls in the pool, which results in a penalty shot for Lyons...takes the goal by Jacobs off the board

Kaptur converts the penalty shot anyways, and Lyons leads (again) 9-5

Sweeney responds with a goal on the other end for Ignatius

Neither team scores in the final minute, so we go to the final period with Lyons leading St Ignatius 9-6

Lyons wins the swimoff; Hoak takes a pass from Jacobs at 2m and in one motion finds the right corner to make it 10-6!

Stelnicki sets to Fernandez at 2m and she scores from there to trim the margin to 10-7

Almarez draws an ejection but Hoak blocks Stelnicki's chance

Insalaco is left open on the right side but her shot hits the left post and Trilla recovers the loose ball

After a turnover, Fernandez shoots over the goal from 7m

LT draws an ejection and Ronning scores immediately after to put Lyons in control 11-7

St Ignatius timeout

Almarez scores from 2m, assisted by Murphy, and it's an 11-8 Lyons lead

Jacobs comes up big on the other end, scoring from just outside 2m to make the score 12-8

LT with a stop; they draw an ejection and Ronning scores her fourth goal to put the Lions ahead by five goals!

Trilla and Fleming with saves; Insalaco shoots over the goal from the right side

Trilla holds the ball to run time off the clock and Ignatius gets it back with 0:24 remaining

One last save by Trilla and the Lions have won the state championship 13-8!!!

Perfection! Lyons finishes the season with a 33-0 record and wins their first ever IHSA state water polo title!
