Week 4

 

The following is a summary of what took place during the fourth week of the season. This is not a complete list and we can only include a few people in this summary, but the purpose is to recognize a few of the best performances from each week.

Biggest Impact Plays

BOYS

Eric Tamulonis (Andrew)

Tamulonis scored the game-winning goal in Andrew's 12-11 overtime victory over Lincoln-Way North on Tuesday.

 

GIRLS

Evan Swenson (Loyola)

Swenson's goal with twenty seconds left in regulation gave the Ramblers an 11-10 victory over rival St Ignatius.

 

Top Goalie Performances

BOYS

Jakobi McClellan (H-F)

The Vikings' goalkeeper blocked 12 shots and did not allow a goal in the fourth quarter in an 8-7 victory over Lockport on Wednesday. He also make 8 saves in H-F's 10-4 win over LWC on Tuesday night.

 

Tommy McGuire (Fenwick)

McGuire's alert play resulted in a 9-steal performance in the Friars' 14-6 victory over St Patrick on Wednesday.

 

GIRLS

Amber Forbes (Bradley)

Forbes recorded 28 saves in wins over Andrew and Lincoln Way West and also chipped in with 3 assists in the win over LWW as Bradley improved to 6-1 on the season.

 

Meredith O'Brien (Loyola)

The Ramblers' goalkeeper blocked 13 shots, made a key save in the final minute of a tie game, then assisted on the game-winning goal as the Ramblers beat St Ignatius 11-10.

 

Biggest Surprises

BOYS

Bradley

The Boilers capped off a perfect week with a big 16-6 victory over Andrew on Thursday, propelling them into the Top 25 for the first time.

 

GIRLS

Lockport

The Porters bounced back from Tuesday's one-goal loss to Lincoln-Way East to beat Homewood-Flossmoor for the first time in team history on Thursday night.

 

News and Notes

Spring Breakin'

Only 30 games were played during Week 4 with most of the schools on Spring Break. Brace yourself for five straight weeks of water polo madness before sectionals begin.

 

Sunshine State Invasion

The Fenwick, Mother McAuley, and New Trier girls' teams traveled to Florida during Week 4 to take on the Sunshine State's best teams (Gulliver Prep, Ransom Everglades, St Andrews, St Thomas).
