State Semifinal Platinum Ballers

Vol. III

 

The following players shined bright for their teams in the semifinal round on Saturday:

 

BOYS

Eric Curia/Nolan Roberts (Naperville North)

Curia and Roberts each scored 4 goals as the Huskies fell just two goals short of getting past Fenwick in the semifinal round.

 

John Reyes/Shane Hughes (St Ignatius)

Reyes and Hughes both tallied 2 scores as the Wolfpack lost an 8-5 heartbreaker to Stevenson in the semifinal round on Saturday.

 

Matt Bresnahan (Fenwick)

Bresnahan poured in 5 goals to lead the Friars to a 12-10 victory over Naperville North on Saturday afternoon.

 

Varun Mummadi (Stevenson)

Mummadi unleashed an offensive barrage on St Ignatius in the second half, scoring 3 goals during a 5-0 run to help get the Patriots into the state title game with an 8-5 comeback win over St Ignatius.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Allison Boothe/Karrie Kozokar (Mundelein)

Boothe and Kozokar both notched 2 goals as the Mustangs lost 8-7 to LWC in Saturday morning's first semifinal.

 

Becky Insalaco/Tammy Stelnicki (St Ignatius)

Insalaco recorded 4 goals and Stelnicki converted a penalty shot near the end of regulation to send St Ignatius to an 8-7 semifinal round victory over Mother McAuley. Stelnicki also totaled 2 scores for the victors.

 

Beth Senese/Kristi Howe (Lincoln-Way Central)

Howe recorded 3 goals, including a go-ahead goal late in the fourth quarter and Senese tallied the game-winner to lift Lincoln-Way Central past Mundelein 8-7 and into the state title game on Saturday morning.

 

Kristen Kleist (Mother McAuley)

Kleist tallied 4 scores in the Mighty Macs' 8-7 loss to St Ignatius in the semifinal round on Saturday.
