State Finals Platinum Ballers

Vol. IV

 

The following players shined bright for their teams in the final round of the state tournament on Saturday:

 

BOYS

Billy Barth/Shane Hughes (St Ignatius)

Hughes netted 3 goals and Barth scored 2 times but SICP lost 20-7 to Naperville North in the state consolation game.

 

Eric Curia/Nolan Roberts (Naperville North)

Curia poured in 7 goals and Roberts notched 4 scores as the Huskies rolled to a 20-7 win over St Ignatius in the state consolation game. The pair scored all 11 goals in the first half and saw limited action in the second half.

 

Justin White (Fenwick)

White scored 3 goals, including the eventual game-winner, as Fenwick defeated Stevenson 10-4 in the state title game on Saturday.

 

Rob O'Brien (Stevenson)

O'Brien made a whopping 28 blocks and made 2 penalty shot saves to help the Patriots stay with Fenwick in an eventual 10-4 title game loss on Saturday night.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Allison Boothe (Mundelein)

Boothe led the Mustangs with 5 goals in an 11-9 loss to Mother McAuley in the state consolation game.

 

Amy Kopale/Clare Bryar/Kristen Kleist (McAuley)

Kleist netted 5 goals and both Bryar and Kopale totaled 3 goals each as the trio scored all of the Mighty Macs' goals in an 11-9 win over Mundelein in the consolation game on Saturday evening.

 

Becky Insalaco/Karen Juarez/Tammy Stelnicki (SICP)

Insalaco and Stelnicki both recorded 4 goals and Juarez scored 2 key goals late in the game as St Ignatius defeated LWC 12-9 in the state title game on Saturday night.

 

Danijela Jackovich (Lincoln-Way Central)

Jackovich scored 8 goals to help the Knights come close to winning their first state title before falling 12-9 to St Ignatius in the state title game on Saturday.
