Players To Watch

Preseason Vol. III: Goalies Version

Keep an eye out for the following players throughout the rest of the 2013 season:

BOYS

Gerald Porter (Latin)

The hard-working Porter should step in and be a difference maker for a Romans' defense hoping to quickly rebuild after losing several seniors from a state-qualifying team.

John Friesen (New Trier)

Friesen should be solid as the last line of defense for New Trier as a solid offseason of training has him ready to make his mark for the fourth-ranked Trevians this season.

John Goetz (Lockport)

The Porters will call on Goetz to replace Matt Yaeger in the net in 2013 as they begin their quest to return to the state tournament.

John Hedderman (Neuqua Valley)

One of the major keys for the Wildcats this season will be the play of new goaltender John Hedderman; a strong offseason performance should help the netminder solidify the Wildcats' defense.

Matt Bindeman (York)

Big things are expected of new starter Bindeman as he takes over in goal for the twenty-third ranked Dukes.

GIRLS

Genevieve Helsel/Maya Horton (Marian)

Helsel and Horton split time in goal for the Spartans with great success, so look for the pair of netminders to help Marian make a move into the Top 25 this season.

Keara Myatt (Wheeling)

Myatt should be a strong defensive presence for a Wildcats' team looking to repeat as Mid-Suburban League East title-winners after a 20-win season.

Sydney Gathe (Neuqua Valley)

The Wildcats are hoping Gathe can quickly replace Jess Marone in goal as they look to take down the Naperville-area's best teams in 2013.
