Palatine's Jon Haga and McHenry's Drew Schneider are set for a rematch
but both teams must get to the sectional championship game at Barrington
When Palatine traveled to McHenry last month, the matchup between Jon Haga and Drew Schneider was just a preview of what was to come at the Barrington Sectional. Haga got the better of head-to-head duel, and if things go as planned, the Pirates could be making a return trip to state in 2004. Palatine also boasts Kyle Sorenson, Skylar Davis, and goalie Kyle Finnegan, but McHenry could pose a problem if players like Noah Knudson, Shane Schultz, and Nick Eschner provide Schneider with some help. Fremd will use speed to try and upset McHenry in the second round, as Darrell Phee and Ross Reichart will try to make the Vikings a potential sleeper team. Buffalo Grove's balanced attack will match up with Drew Stetson, Joe Fraczek and the host Barrington Broncos in the 4-5 matchup, with the winner looking to hang around with Palatine, who advances to the second round with a bye.
