Fenwick 17 Lyons 8

March 15, 2005

Farren Rixter scored seven goals and goalie Laurel McCarthy held #7 Lyons to just two first half goals as Fenwick looked solid in a 17-8 win on Tuesday night. The defending champs improved to 4-0 on the season as they prepare for Wednesday night's matchup against #5 Mother McAuley.

The loss was the first for Lyons this season, as they opened the season with a 4-0 record. They have already knocked off Oak Park and York and are currently 3-0 in the West Suburban Conference. The Lions cut the score to 3-1 as Lauren Ansilio found Sarah Trilla for a goal from two meters out, but that was as close as they would get in the game.

Rixter scored five goals in the opening period, including four goals from the two-meter position and one from four meters out. Danielle Buglio and Kaitlin Kysiak both scored twice in the first half, while Keely Baldwin turned her defender, drove towards the goal and scored for the other Fenwick score in the first half.

Christina Romano scored a breakaway goal to start the second half and made a steal and assisted Baldwin on her second goal to increase the Fenwick lead. Rixter added her seventh goal and Buglio scored twice more in the third period, with all three goals coming from two meters out. Trisha Osmolak scored the only Friar goal in the fourth quarter.

Buglio finished with four goals to go along with the seven scored by Rixter. Baldwin and Kysiak each scored twice and Osmolak had the last Fenwick goal.

Sarah Trilla led Lyons Township with three goals. Becca Busse, Mae Harris, Eileen Burke, Lauren Swanson, and Emily Kasl each scored once for the Lions.
