Illpolo.com's All-Illpolo Team

Kristina Pilolli helped Loyola advance to the state tournament for the first time in the school's history in 2005. The Marquette-bound senior was named to the All-Illpolo team and was also named as an honorable mention All-State performer. We asked Kristina the following questions in an exclusive Illpolo.com interview:

College choices, major, current GPA?

I am going to Marquette University next year. I haven't decided exactly what I want to major in, but psychology is an option. My current GPA is a 3.75.

Experience, Club Team, Zone Teams, Off-season work?

I was a part of the Loyola summer camp and I played in the off-season at Wells Park and participated in the high school tournament through Wells.

When did you start? How? Where?

I started playing polo my freshman year. I was on the swim team and I loved being with all of the girls, so I decided to join the polo team.

Awards and achievements?

My sophmore year I was named Most Improved Player. This year I was a captain and received Rambler of the Year, 1st Team All-Sectional, 1st Team All-Conference, and All-State Honorable Mention. This year was the first year that the Loyola Girls Water Polo team went to state in school history!

Personal interests? Music? TV shows?

I am a huge movie buff and I am completely obsessed with the TV show Alias.

Goals for the future with polo?

Well, there is only an inner tube water polo team at Marquette, but I hope to make a real team with some of the Loyola polo alums at school with me.

Motivation, inspiration?

We had a really strong team this year and we worked really hard together to go to state. We have the best coaches, they pushed us and believed in us the whole time. We were really motivated to be that first team to go to state, and hopefully start a tradition.

First Season role?

My first year, I really had no idea what I was doing. I had never played before and I was just trying to learn the game, so I've come pretty far since then.

Soph, Junior year roles?

My sophomore year I was moved to varsity. This year, my senior year, I really got a chance to play a lot of minutes and show everybody what I could do.

I scored 53 goals and was the second leading scorer on the team in 2005.
