LAUREN PETERSON
All-Illpolo Team; Illpolo.com's Best Tandem
Lauren Peterson played a key
role in helping Homewood-Flossmoor finish third in the state of Illinois
in 2005. The senior teamed up with Amy Thatcher as Illpolo.com's choice
for Best Tandem, while she was also named to the
All-Illpolo first team and
the All-State first team at the end of the season. We asked Lauren the following
questions in an exclusive Illpolo.com interview:
College choices, major, current GPA?
Iona College New Rochelle New York, advertising/business, 3.6 GPA.
Experience, Club Team, Zone Teams, Off-season work?
Playing for No Limit Water Polo, 4 years on
high school team, west pullman club team for 2 years during the winter
with Sandburg girls, summer polo conditioning at hf, summer polo camp at
the Naval Academy in Annapolis, coaching polo at HF.
When did you start? How? Where?
Freshmen year at HF; SOUTH SIDE REPRESENT!!!
Awards and achievements?
PSAE scholar, National Honor Society, Eileen Davidson Fan Club, Badminton Cheer Squad, Mu Alpha Theta, 1st team all sectional/conference junior year, fourth team all state junior yr, MVP junior year, whatever is on illpolo.com, you would know better than I would. First team All-Illpolo and first team All-State in 2005.
Personal interests? Music? TV shows?
Photography, rollerblading, lifeguard, water
polo coach, basketball coach, babysitter, music--anything really, i like
it all!! TV=MTV a lot and VH1's specials and The Food Network BAM!
Goals for the future with polo? School? Life?
Playing polo at Iona; in school i want to
graduate, in life I want to possibly open my own ad agency or get an ad on
the jumbotron in Times Square. Hopefully, I'll get an internship in New
York in a couple years through college.
First Season role?
Playing hole set with Amy Thatcher, then working on the outside sometimes, then sticking with hole because i was too slow to keep up with drivers, and i liked being brutal! I learned how to shoot a backhand by the fifth game or something like that.
Soph Year role?
Rocking out on banjos on the bench sophomore year, junior year starter and hole set, this year hole set.
