There are several teams on the rise and others who lost a ton of production to graduation but could reload quickly in order to make an impact during the 2016 season. Let's take a closer look a handful of teams considered 'Sleepers' this season:

First Contest: March 7 vs Curie

Key Tournaments: CPS, Niles West, Schaumburg, Waubonsie, York


2015 Verdict: The Dolphins (13-7) earned a sectional quarterfinal round victory over Oak Park before being knocked out of the playoffs by Fenwick in the next round.


Head Coach: Sigfredo Cruz

Key Players: Ethan Johnson, Joe Qualter, Lorenzo Henrichs, Matt Petriekas

Players to Watch: Dave Mearsheimer, Marcel Briseno

Final 2015 Ranking: 24th


First Contest: March 7 at Loyola

Key Tournaments: Brother Rice, MCAC, Schaumburg, STC North, St Patrick


2015 Verdict: The Mustangs (18-12) shutout Julian in the sectional quarterfinals but lost a one-goal heartbreaker to Brother Rice in the semifinals of the Lyons Sectional.

First Contest: March 11 at Neuqua Tournament

Key Tournaments: LWN, Neuqua, Niles West, Waubonsie


2015 Verdict: Waubonsie Valley (14-14-2) beat Hinsdale South in the opening round of the playoffs before being eliminated by the eventual sectional champions (Naperville Central) in the quarterfinals.

Key Players: Charlie Crothers, Dante Cerone, Matt Stack, Stephen Battin, Will McEvoy

Players to Watch: Michael Baker

Goalkeeper: Tim Bansfield

Final 2015 Ranking: 32nd


First Contest: March 7 at DLS

Key Tournaments: Barrington, Evanston, Lake Forest, MCAC, Niles West


2015 Verdict: The Lions posted an impressive 19-11 record but could not get past Schaumburg in the quarterfinal round of the sectional playoffs.

Players to Watch: Josh Zabor

Goalkeeper: Adam Starus

Final 2015 Ranking: 33rd


First Contest: March 11 at Palatine Tournament

Key Tournaments: Barrington, Lake Forest, Palatine, Schaumburg, Vernon Hills


2015 Verdict: The Warriors (13-12-1) edged Libertyville by one goal in the sectional quarterfinals at BG fell at the hands of the sectional winners (Stevenson) in the semifinal round.

Players to Watch: Brian Goldman, Joey Sperber

Goalkeeper: Graham Rose

Final 2015 Ranking: 36th


First Contest: March 8 at Stevenson

Key Tournaments: CSL, Evanston, Highland Park, Naperville Central


2015 Verdict: Glenbrook North finished the previous season with a 16-13 mark; they lost a sectional quarterfinal contest with Niles West in last year's playoffs.

Players to Watch: Brendan McKee, James Zawada, Jason Parkinson

Goalkeeper: Liam McGuire

First Contest: March 8 at Shepard

Key Tournaments: Conant, LWN, Sandburg, Stagg


2015 Verdict: The Phoenix (12-14-2) lost 10-5 to the eventual sectional winners (LWC) in last year's playoffs.

Players to Watch: Marko Bogicevic

Goalkeeper: Marco Pilolla

Final 2015 Ranking: 38th


First Contest: March 16 vs STC East

Key Tournaments: CSL, Elk Grove, Maine East, Neuqua, Sandburg, St Patrick


2015 Verdict: The Hawks (14-14) finished the previous campaign with a .500 record but were knocked out of the postseason by Glenbrook South in the sectional quarterfinals.

Key Tournaments: Fenwick, St Patrick, Vernon Hills


2015 Verdict: The Griffins (10-16) came up short against H-F in the quarterfinal round of the Lincoln-Way North Sectional.

First Contest: March 10 at Highland Park

Key Tournaments: CSL, Evanston, GBS, Niles West, St Patrick


2015 Verdict: Evanston (11-13-1) opened the postseason with a victory over Taft before losing 12-8 to the eventual sectional winners (New Trier) in the quarterfinal round.

2015 Verdict: The Wildcats (12-17-1) lost in the sectional quarterfinals to McHenry at the Buffalo Grove Sectional.
