Fenwick Beats Missouri's Best To Win DeSmet Tourney; LWN Finishes In Eighth

#1 Fenwick traveled across state lines and went 5-0 against Missouri's top teams to win the DeSmet Tournament title. The Friars beat top-ranked SLUH 7-6 in a virtual semifinal game before beating MO's second-ranked team, Parkway West in the championship. Matt Farmer and Viken Huening were named the tournament's Co-MVP with 16 and 13 goals, respectively, during the event. Both players were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Dan Kelly and Tom Osmolak also scored 10 goals apiece during the event, which also saw the Friars earn wins over Lindbergh, MICDS, and Parkway North.

Lincoln-Way North started the event in fine fashion with an 8-7 victory over Chaminade on Friday. The road blues struck the Phoenix in the event's second day, however, as North followed their Friday night loss to Parkway West with losses to DeSmet, Belen Jesuit, and Parkway North to finish the tournament in eighth place. Lincoln-Way North 8 Chaminade 7

Jake Roberts totaled 4 scores and Mike Doyle blocked 12 shots as LWN beat Chaminade 8-7 in the first game of the DeSmet Tournament for the Phoenix.

Fenwick 17 Parkway North 5

Matt Farmer scored 5 goals and Dan Kelly notched 3 scores in Fenwick's 17-5 win over Parkway North. Matt Bresnahan and Viken Huening each tallied 2 goals in the Friars' tournament-opening victory.

Fenwick 20 Lindbergh 4

Tom Osmolak recorded 5 goals and both Matt Farmer and Viken Huening scored 3 times as the Friars' downed Lindbergh 20-4. Dan Kelly, Omar Calderon, and Rich Mueller each added 2 scores in the win.

Saturday's Game Recaps

Fenwick 14 MICDS 5

Matt Farmer and Viken Huening each scored 3 goals to lift the defending champs past MICDS 14-5 on Saturday morning. Dan Kelly, Matt Bresnahan, and Tom Osmolak each scored 2 times for Fenwick.

Fenwick 7 SLUH 6

Viken Huening scored 3 goals and Tommy McGuire stopped 14 shots as the Friars held off SLUH 7-6 to advance to the DeSmet Tournament title game.

Fenwick 10 Parkway West 4

Matt Farmer recorded 5 goals and Viken Huening added 2 scores in Fenwick's tournament-winning 10-4 victory over Parkway West. Tommy McGuire also made 11 saves in the Friars' win.
