GAME RECAPS (Monday, April 9)
 

BOYS

Latin 22 Whitney Young 9

Jacob Himmel and Parker Wilkie each scored 5 times and Eugene Gorleku added 3 scores in the Romans' 22-9 victory over Whitney Young. Seth Hughes totaled 4 scores in the loss for the Dolphins.

 

Lindblom 20 Simeon 3

Marshawn Shelton racked up 10 goals in Lindblom's 20-3 victory over Simeon.

 

Lyons 16 Homewood-Flossmoor 5

Joe Shannon registered 7 goals and Chris Sekula made 15 saves to help lift LT past H-F 16-5 on Monday. Peter Dore scored 4 goals and Kovas Zygas notched 3 scores in the Lions' victory. Nick Thiros scored 2 times in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Maine South 12 STC North 11

The Hawks improved to 13-2 by holding off STC North 12-11 on Monday night. Joey Chokran registered   7 scores in the loss for the North Stars.

 

Fenwick 15 McHenry 8

The defending champs raced out to an 8-1 lead after one period and never looked back in a 15-8 victory over McHenry. Matt Farmer scored 5 times and Matt Bresnahan added 4 scores for the Friars. Tommy McGuire also blocked 16 shots to help Fenwick improve to 12-0. Dylan Clohessy led the Warriors with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

Palatine 15 Mundelein 3

Alex Brons, Christian Kalfas, and Wally Kleinfeldt all scored 3 times and Peter Blackham made 14 saves and notched a goal in Palatine's 15-3 win over Mundelein. Jason Rehor led the Mustangs with 3 scores.

 

Taft 17 Westinghouse 7

Jaime Riano totaled 4 scores as Taft used a 6-0 run to start the game to beat Westinghouse 17-7.

 

GIRLS

Buffalo Grove 7 Prospect 4

Sarah Fasching tallied 4 scores and Julie Pater added 3 goals as Buffalo Grove knocked off Prospect 7-4 to tighten their grip on second place in the MSL East. Callie Fasching made 9 saves for the winners.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Lockport 5

Danijela Jackovich recorded 6 goals and Brittany Knowlton tallied 3 scores as LWC topped Lockport 11-5. Caroline Foglton made 10 saves in the Knights' win. Liz Latka put in 3 goals and Megan Cavanaugh tallied 2 scores in the loss for the Porters.

 

Lyons 17 Homewood-Flossmoor 9

Carrie Nacht scored 5 goals and both Kirby Kaptur (6 steals) and Lizzy Kosin netted 3 scores in the Lions' 17-9 victory over H-F. Rebecca Mathews scored 6 goals and Tess Adamonis tallied 2 scores in the loss.

 

Maine East 18 Meadows 3

Medina Husejnovic totaled 7 goals and Maria Protic notched 5 scores in the Blue Demons' 18-3 win over Meadows. Sandra Kietlinska added 3 scores and Isabelle Trier denied 11 shots in the East victory.

 

Naperville Central 17 Neuqua Valley 0

The Redhawks' defense came up with 23 team steals and Julie Campbell (8 saves) earned a shutout as Naperville Central beat Neuqua Valley 17-0. Abbey Kerth scored 5 goals and Emily Sejna and Lauren Gunn both tallied 3 scores in the win.

 

Richards 18 Stagg 13

Chris Dvoracek poured in 11 goals and Michelle Jozefowicz totaled 7 scores to lead the Bulldogs past the Chargers 18-13 on Monday evening. Liz Hadhazy recorded 10 goals in the loss for Stagg.

 

Whitney Young 7 Latin 6

Gabby Chelette scored 3 goals and Fairie Hughes added 2 scores as the Dolphins defeated Latin 7-6. Nya Wilkins also made 10 saves in the victory for WY.

MATCH OF THE DAY

McHenry at Fenwick

The Warriors (11-2-1) travel to Fenwick with something to prove when they play the defending champs in a nonconference affair on Monday night. The Friars (12-0), meanwhile, look to remain perfect in 2012 as they match up with another state qualifier from last season.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON:

Lyons at Homewood-Flossmoor

LT (13-2) goes on the road in search of win number fourteen when they battle the Vikings (8-6).

 

GIRLS

MATCH OF THE DAY

Homewood-Flossmoor at Lyons

H-F (8-4) heads to LaGrange looking to hand the Lions (12-0) their first loss of the season.

Naperville Central at Neuqua Valley

The top-ranked Redhawks (14-0) look to make it fifteen straight wins in 2012 when they head to a hostile environment to play Neuqua Valley (5-2-1) on Monday evening.
