STEVENSON TOURNAMENT

Illinois' Best Dominate Michigan Teams at Stevenson
The trio of #1 Fenwick, #3 Mother McAuley, and #4 Mundelein went undefeated over the weekend against some of Michigan's best teams to help Illinois post a 14-2 record against Michigan at Stevenson. The hosts lost an overtime thriller to #1 Rockford 6-5 on Friday and dropped a close 7-5 decision to #4 Okemos, but bounced back on Saturday with two wins to help the state's cause. Friday's Game Recaps

Rockford 6 Stevenson 5

For the second straight game, Michigan's top-ranked team beat an Illinois squad by one goal, holding off Stevenson 6-5 in the tournament opener on Friday. Kara Vanderwater scored with 1:10 remaining in the final period to lift the Rams to the victory over the hosts. Adrianna Craft scored 3 goals in the win for the visitors. Alex Kanaris and Allison Travetto both scored 2 goals and Laura Larsen added one goal for the Patriots.

 

Mundelein 6 Okemos 4

Courtney Perreault tallied 2 scores and Allison Boothe, Karrie Kozokar, Kasia Wienckowski, and Rachel Robb each scored once as Mundelein defeated Okemos 6-4. Katie Dudley scored 2 goals and both Emily Wozena and Marie Marsh each tallied one score in the loss for the visitors.

 

Fenwick 11 East Grand Rapids 2

Catie Wallace tallied 3 scores and Cara Borkovec, Colleen Barron, and Maggie Sheean each recorded 2 goals in Fenwick's 11-2 win over EGR.

 

Mother McAuley 9 Skyline 2

Amy Kopale recorded 5 goals and Vicky Arciniega notched 2 scores in Mother McAuley's 9-2 victory over Skyline on Friday night. Clare Bryar, Fran Williamson, and Kristen Kleist each added one goal each and Sarah Abbott denied 5 shots for the winning squad.

 

Okemos 7 Stevenson 5

Katie Dudley scored 5 goals to lead Okemos to a 7-5 win over Stevenson. Brittany Gartenberg scored 3 times and Allison Travetto and Laura Larsen each scored once in the loss for the Patriots.

 

Saturday's Game Recaps

Mundelein 7 East Grand Rapids 3

Allison Boothe and Karrie Kozokar both scored 3 goals and Talia Rossi netted one score to help Mundelein get past EGR 7-3. Anna Ward and Emily Dodd combined to stop 10 shots in the Mustangs' win. Morgan Roberts scored 2 times and Emily Lundquist added a goal in the loss for the Michigan side.

 

Mother McAuley 8 Rockford 3

Amy Kopale and Kristen Kleist both scored 2 times and Clare Bryar, Fran Williamson, Meg Golon, and Vicky Arciniega each scored once in the Mighty Macs' 8-3 win over Rockford.

 

Fenwick 16 Skyline 3

Cara Borkovec registered 5 goals and Alexa Ovalle put in 3 scores in Fenwick's 16-3 win over Skyline. Bridget Carey, Colleen Barron, and Paige Kohut also scored 2 times each in the Friars' win.

 

Stevenson 7 East Grand Rapids 4

Alex Kanaris, Allison Travetto, and Melissa Gartenberg each scored 2 times and Jordyn Landau added one goal as Stevenson topped EGR 7-4.

 

Mundelein 8 Skyline 3

Karrie Kozokar and Rachel Robb both put in 2 goals and Anna Ward stopped 9 shots in Mundelein's 8-3 victory over Skyline. Allison Boothe, Courtney Perreault, Michelle Barron, and Rachel David each added one score in the Mustangs' win. Susie Stevens scored 2 times and Johanna Buschhaus made 9 saves in the loss for Skyline.

 

Fenwick 9 Okemos 6

Cara Borkovec registered 4 scores, Alexa Ovalle put in 3 goals, and Colleen Barron notched 2 scores as Fenwick topped Okemos 9-6. Katie Dudley led Okemos with 4 scores in the loss.

 

Mother McAuley 10 East Grand Rapids 5

Clare Bryar and Vicky Arciniega scored 3 goals apiece and Fran Williamson, Kristen Kleist, Tess Bowens, and Maggie Hennigan each added one goal in McAuley's 10-5 win over EGR.

 

Mundelein 9 Rockford 8 (OT)

Michelle Barron scored 3 goals and both Allison Boothe and Rachel Robb netted 2 scores as the Mustangs beat Rockford 9-8 in overtime on Saturday. Kasia Wienckowski and Karrie Kozokar each added one goal for the winners. Adrianna Craft scored 3 times in the loss for Michigan's top-ranked team.

 

Stevenson 8 Skyline 3

Alex Kanaris poured in 5 goals and Jenna Oliver added 2 scores in Stevenson's 8-3 victory over Skyline. Allison Travetto added one score in the winning effort for the hosts.

 

Mother McAuley 10 Okemos 6

Clare Bryar and Kristen Kleist each scored 3 times and Amy Kopale netted 2 goals as McAuley defeated Okemos 10-6. Fran Williamson and Vicky Arciniega each tallied one score in the win.

 

Fenwick 13 Rockford 4

Colleen Barron scored 5 goals and Alexa Ovalle added 3 goals in Fenwick's 13-4 win over Rockford.
