MCAC TOURNAMENT (BOYS)

UPDATE #1 - St Patrick beat Loyola 9-5 in the first semifinal game on Saturday, as James Ridgeway scored 4 goals to lead the Shamrocks to the win. They will take on Fenwick in the championship game, as the Friars defeated Brother Rice 20-6. Tom Parolin led all scorers with 5 goals while John Barrett added 4 scores in the win. Loyola will play Brother Rice in the third place game at 2:30pm, with the championship game between Fenwick-St Patrick at 4:30pm. UPDATE #2 - In the third place game, Brother Rice beat Loyola 14-9 as Sean Coghlan led the way for the Crusaders with 7 goals and Matt Joslyn added 4 scores. Nate LeRoy tallied 6 goals for the Ramblers in the loss. UPDATE #3 - In the title game, Fenwick outlasted St Patrick 10-3, as Brian Barron, Chris Wendt, and Tom Parolin each scored 2 goals in the win for the Friars.

 

MCAC TOURNAMENT (GIRLS)

UPDATE #1 - Mother McAuley and Fenwick advanced to the MCAC title game after McAuley defeated Loyola and Fenwick survived a thriller against St Ignatius in Saturday morning's semifinal games. Alison Pavlik scored on a five-meter shot in the second sudden death overtime period to give Fenwick a 13-12 win over St Ignatius. Nora Kennelly scored 8 goals for the Wolfpack in the loss, but Pavlik's goal gives Fenwick another chance at a Catholic League title on Saturday afternoon. UPDATE #2 - Ignatius defeated Loyola 10-4 for third place late in the afternoon on Saturday, then Fenwick held off McAuley 10-9 as Alison Pavlik scored 6 goals to lead the Friars to the championship.

 

WSC TOURNAMENT (BOYS)

Lyons claimed the West Suburban Conference title after a 14-11 victory over Oak Park on Saturday afternoon in Elmhurst. Scott Nemecek scored 5 goals to lead the Lions in the win, while Mark Nemecek scored 4 goals and Peter Cosentino and Mike Castro each scored 2 goals for Lyons. Mike Nickels led the Huskies with 8 goals and goalie Isaac Rothenbaum made 10 saves in the losing effort for Oak Park.

 

WSC TOURNAMENT (GIRLS)

UPDATE #1 - Hinsdale Central and York both advanced to the semifinals of the West Suburban Conference tournament with opening round wins this morning. Central defeated Hinsdale South 9-5 in the first game, as Bree O'Daugherty and Caitlin Connor both scored 2 goals in the win for the Red Devils. In the second game, York beat Morton 14-5 as Karen Achtien and Theresa O'Toole each scored 3 goals in the win. UPDATE #2 - In the first semifinal, Lyons topped Hinsdale Central 12-6 to advance to the championship game, as Katherine Delacey scored 4 goals to lead the Lions. Carrie DeBoer, Megan Kono, Allie Grimes, and Joanna Curran each scored 2 goals in the win, while Bree O'Daugherty recorded all 6 goals for Central in the losing effort. Oak Park also advanced to the championship game as Megan Rigali scored 4 goals to lead the Lions to a 10-2 semifinal win over York on Saturday afternoon. Val Poulos added 3 goals and Audrey Reardon scored 2 times in the win for the Huskies. UPDATE #3 - In the championship game of the WSC tournament, Oak Park defeated Lyons 10-5, as Val Poulos, Audrey Reardon, and Megan Rigali each scored 3 goals for the Huskies in the win.

 

MUNDELEIN TOURNAMENT (GIRLS)

UPDATE #1 - Mundelein beat Palatine in the tournament opener 11-5, as Siobhan Larsen scored 5 goals and Allie Fedro added 3 scores in the win for the Mustangs. Mundelein also beat Latin 9-8, as Larsen and Kristen Aucutt each tallied 3 goals and the Mustangs withstood a 5-goal effort from Latin's Perla Almarez. The Mustangs clinched the tournament title with an 11-6 victory over Buffalo Grove, as Larsen poured in 8 goals in the win. UPDATE #2 - Latin went 2-1 at the tournament to claim second place, earning wins over both Buffalo Grove and Palatine. In their 9-4 win over the Bison, Almarez led the way with 4 goals and Claire Henderson added 2 scores. In their final game, they shut down Palatine 9-2, with Almarez the leading scorer with 7 goals. UPDATE #3 - Buffalo Grove earned one win, an 11-5 triumph over fellow MSL school Palatine. Niki Irzyk led the Bison with 4 goals in the win.

 

STEVENSON TOURNAMENT (BOYS/GIRLS)

UPDATE #1 - Stevenson and Naperville Central both earned wins in their tournament openers against Homewood-Flossmoor on both the boys' and the girls' side on Saturday morning. In the third boys' game, Stevenson upset Naperville Central 7-6, while the Central girls held off Stevenson 7-5. UPDATE #2 - Neuqua Valley's girls team won two games in a row over H-F and Naperville Central, while their boys defeated H-F but fell to Naperville Central 14-4. UPDATE #3 - Still awaiting results from the final games between Neuqua Valley-Stevenson..

MCAC TOURNAMENT (BOYS)

The top seeds all won their first round games on Friday night in the Catholic League, setting up matchups between St Patrick-Loyola and Fenwick-Brother Rice on Saturday morning in the semifinals.

 

WSC TOURNAMENT (BOYS)

Both Lyons and Oak Park advanced to the West Suburban Conference championship game with wins on Friday night, as Lyons defeated host York 14-8 and Oak Park held off Hinsdale South 14-11.

 

CPL TOURNAMENT (BOYS)

Curie will face Mather for the CPL Tournament championship after Curie beat Young 11-6 and Mather defeated Lane 12-7on Friday night.

 

CPL TOURNAMENT (GIRLS)

Lane takes on Young for the CPL Tournament title on Saturday after Lane held off Curie 8-7 and Young beat Northside 12-4 on Friday evening.

 

CSL TOURNAMENT (GIRLS)

Evanston, New Trier, Maine East, and Highland Park won first round games on Friday night as the Central Suburban League Tournament got underway. Evanston's 12-4 win over Glenbrook South put them one win away from the title game, as Grace Hatcher led all scorers in the win with 3 goals. Lily Nassiri, Syd Werd, and McKenna Kulman all scored twice in the Wildkits' win. Meanwhile, Maine East earned their first ever conference tournament win, a 4-3 decision over Deerfield, as Natalia Bialecki and Katie Hoglund each scored 2 goals and goalie Ariel Gazlay made 14 saves in the win.

 

LAKE FOREST 10 CONANT 4 (GIRLS)

Joy Corona scored 6 goals to lead the Scouts to a 10-4 victory over Conant in the final game of the regular season for both teams on Friday night. Laura McClenahan, Annie Geitner, Devan Osborn, and Lindsey Faucher each scored one goal in the win for Lake Forest.

LATIN 10 WAUBONSIE VALLEY 9 (BOYS)

Grant Wilkie scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime as Latin defeated Waubonsie Valley 10-9 on Thursday night.

 

OAK PARK 15 MORTON 3 (BOYS)

Dylan O'Connell and Tommy Poulos each recorded 4 goals and Mike Nickels added 3 scores as Oak Park won their opening round game of the West Suburban Conference Tournament over Morton 15-3 on Thursday.

 

MCHENRY 9 CONANT 8 (BOYS)

Bill Dabrowski tallied 4 goals and Jon Lesniak added 2 goals as McHenry knocked off Conant 9-8 in nonconference action.

 

SCHAUMBURG 11 STC EAST 5 (BOYS)

Chris Corbett scored 5 goals and added 2 assists to lead Schaumburg to an 11-5 win over St Charles East on Thursday.

 

LIBERTYVILLE 6 BUFFALO GROVE 4 (BOYS)

Jimmy Palac stopped 10 shots and six different players scored for Libertyville as they beat Buffalo Grove 6-4 on Thursday night. Zach Leboza, Andrew Tillman, Mark Callan, Jordan Liss, Steve Clow, and Reed McCann all scored once in the win for the Wildcats.

 

WAUBONSIE VALLEY 6 LATIN 5 (GIRLS)

Bailey Gucinski scored with just 0:05 seconds remaining to give Waubonsie Valley a 6-5 win over Latin in Aurora on Thursday evening.

 

LINCOLN-WAY EAST 11 BRADLEY 5 (GIRLS)

Erin Reilly scored 4 goals to help lift Lincoln-Way East past Bradley 11-5 on Thursday. Sharon Pomranky and Melissa Peyton each scored 3 goals in the win for the Griffins.

SANDBURG 12 NAPERVILLE CENTRAL 8 (GIRLS)

Sam Cody and Hannah Ciurej each scored 4 goals to lead Sandburg to a 12-8 road victory over Naperville Central on Wednesday night. The win helped the Eagles finish the regular season with a 20-10 record as they prepare for the Lyons Sectional next week.

 

MUNDELEIN 12 SCHAUMBURG 5 (GIRLS)

Siobhan Larsen recorded 5 goals and Alice Denny scored 2 times to lead the Mustangs to a 12-5 nonconference win over Schaumburg on Wednesday.

SANDBURG 12 ST RITA 5 (BOYS)

Max Kryzminski scored 6 goals and goalie Robert Pozdol made 10 saves to lead the Eagles to a 12-5 nonconference win over St Rita on Tuesday.

 

LYONS 20 PALATINE 14 (BOYS)

Mike Castro tallied 7 goals, Scott Nemecek scored 4 times, and Paul Busse and Peter Cosentino each added 3 goals to lead Lyons to a 20-14 win over Palatine on Tuesday night. Whitaker Davis and Mitch Tucker both scored 4 goals in the loss for the Pirates.

 

MCHENRY 19 VERNON HILLS 3 (BOYS)

Bill Dabrowski scored 8 goals to lead McHenry to a 19-3 win over Vernon Hills on Tuesday night. Jon Lesniak added 4 goals, David Peck scored 3 times, and Ryan Forner tallied 2 goals in the win. Dusty Lang made 26 saves in the win.

 

LIBERTYVILLE 10 NEW TRIER 9 (BOYS)

Danny Lejeune scored 5 goals to lead Libertyville to a 10-9 upset win over New Trier on Tuesday evening. Mark Callan added 2 goals in the win and goalie Jimmy Palac made 10 saves for the Wildcats.

 

NEUQUA 15 BARRINGTON 10 (BOYS)

John Mikuzis scored 7 goals, J.J. Bonk added 4 scores, and goalie Brad Kay stopped 20 shots as the Wildcats defeated Barrington 15-10 on Tuesday.

 

LATIN 10 SCHAUMBURG 5 (BOYS)

Grant Wilkie scored 4 goals to lead Latin to a 10-5 victory over Schaumburg on Tuesday evening.

 

OAK PARK 11 HOMEWOOD-FLOSSMOOR 3 (GIRLS)

Val Poulos scored 5 goals and Audrey Reardon added 3 scores as Oak Park knocked off Homewood-Flossmoor 11-3 on Tuesday. Melissa Maslowski recorded 9 saves in the win for the Huskies.

 

LINCOLN-WAY EAST 11 LINCOLN-WAY CENTRAL 6 (GIRLS)

Erin Reilly recorded 5 goals and Morgan Roberts made 7 saves to lead the Griffins to an 11-6 victory over Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Conference.

 

NORTHSIDE 9 VON STEUBEN 7 (GIRLS)

Megan Grant and Natalie Klontz each scored 3 goals to lead Northside Prep to a 9-7 win over Von Steuben in the first round of the Chicago Public League playoffs. Northside advanced to the semifinals where they will take on Young at 5:30pm on Friday night.

SCHAUMBURG 15 HINSDALE SOUTH 7 (BOYS)

Schaumburg defeated Hinsdale South 15-7 on Monday night as Chris Corbett, Jeff Davis, and Mike Kehoe each scored 3 goals to lead the Saxons to the win. Schaumburg improved to 13-12 on the season and face Latin on Tuesday and St Charles East in their final regular season game on Thursday night, while the Hornets fell to 10-13-1 and head into the West Suburban Conference tournament quarterfinals at York High School on Thursday evening.

 

OAK PARK 15 HINSDALE SOUTH 5 (GIRLS)

Audrey Reardon scored 7 goals to lead the Huskies to a 15-5 win over Hinsdale South in the West Suburban Conference matchup on Monday evening. Megan Rigali added 2 scores and 2 steals in the victory, while goalies Melissa and Vicki Maslowski combined for 7 saves in the net for Oak Park.
