Nolan Roberts (Naperville North)

Roberts was the second-leading scorer, second in assists, and was the team leader in steals for the state's third-ranked squad. The junior scored 10 goals at sectionals to help the Huskies qualify for state and tallied 10 goals at state to help North hoist a third-place trophy after wins over New Trier and St Ignatius. Sadly, Roberts was not rewarded with a spot on the All-State Team, even though his performance surely put him as a All-Illpolo First Team player.

Katie Appell (Oak Park)

Appell was the driving force behind Oak Park's Top 20 finish this season, as she scored well over 100 goals for a team that ended the year with a 23-7 record. That is especially remarkable considering the Huskies went 13-18 and ended the 2012 season ranked #38. Unfortunately, she was not rewarded with an All-State award, even though she clearly performed at such a high-level that she landed as a All-Illpolo First Team player.
