Week 7 Ballers

 

BOYS

Alex Thoele (Neuqua Valley)

Thoele registered 14 goals to lead the Wildcats to a perfect weekend at the Metea Valley Tournament after victories over Bradley, Maine South, and Metea. He also scored 6 times in a 16-9 win over Hinsdale South during Week 7.

 

Brogan O'Doherty/George Koulouris (Hinsdale Central)

O'Doherty and Koulouris combined to score 21 goals during the Red Devils' run to a second place finish at the Brother Rice Tournament.

 

Christian Kalfas (Palatine)

Kalfas led the Pirates with 14 goals as they went 3-1 at the GBS Tournament over the weekend. Palatine beat Hersey, Lake Forest, and Prospect on Saturday. He also scored 6 goals in Tuesday's victory over Barrington.

 

Eric Curia/Nolan Roberts (Naperville North)

Curia recorded 15 goals and Roberts totaled 11 scores at the GBS Tournament, helping the Huskies win the event with wins over Evanston, GBS, Lake Forest, and New Trier. Both players scored 4 times in a 14-4 title game win over NT.

 

Curia also scored 5 goals and Roberts added 2 in Monday night's 15-9 win over Palatine, while the pair totaled 6 goals in a 16-4 victory over Hinsdale Central later in the week.

 

Jeronimo Chavez/Marcos Hernandez (Curie)

Chavez and Hernandez totaled 33 goals for the Condors as they placed fourth at the Brother Rice Tournament over the weekend.

 

John Burke (Conant)

Burke recorded 17 goals and drew 14 ejections as Conant won the Mundelein Tournament by beating the hosts, H-F, and Naperville Central. He also added 3 goals in a 10-9 win over Palatine on Thursday night and tallied 5 scores in a victory over Hoffman on Tuesday.

 

Kevin Mayer (Brother Rice)

Mayer totaled 15 goals as the Crusaders finished 3-1 and took third place at their own event with wins over St Patrick, Curie, and Sandburg. He also tallied 5 goals in a 12-5 win over St Viator earlier in the week.

 

 

 

GIRLS

Allison Boothe/Karrie Kozokar (Mundelein)

Boothe and Kozokar led a balanced Mundelein attack with a combined 14 goals; the Mustangs went 4-0 against several of the top teams from Michigan at the Stevenson Tourney. Boothe's biggest contribution was an overtime goal to seal Mundelein's 9-8 win over Rockford on Saturday. Meanwhile, Kozokar scored 6 times in Mundelein's 13-4 win over Lake Forest on Thursday.

 

Amy Kopale/Clare Bryar (Mother McAuley)

Kopale and Bryar combined to score 17 goals in McAuley's 4-0 weekend performance at the Stevenson Tourney, which included wins over four of the top Michigan teams. Kopale also led the Mighty Macs with 4 goals in Monday's 12-0 victory over St Viator and added 2 scores in Wednesday's 13-4 triumph over Bremen.

 

Becky Insalaco/Jenny Stelnicki (St Ignatius)

Insalaco recorded 16 goals and Stelnicki made 30 saves and played a key role in two shutouts as the Wolfpack went 4-0 to win their own event over the weekend with wins over H-F, Loyola, New Trier, and Waubonsie Valley.

 

Cara Hays (Sandburg)

Hays scored 2 goals in the fourth quarter of the Eagles' 6-5 win over Naperville Central on Friday and added the game-winner in a triple-overtime win over Evanston on Saturday at the NC Tournament. Hays led Sandburg with 6 goals.

 

Daniejela Jackovich (LWC)

Jackovich scored 22 goals in a three-game stretch during Week 6 in victories over Lincoln-Way North, Lincoln-Way West, and Wheeling. She also eclipsed the 500-goal mark for her career. See: The Illpolo Report

 

Katie Appell (Oak Park)

Appell registered 16 goals to help the Huskies earn wins over Lockport, Naperville North, and Whitney Young at the Naperville North Tournament. She also scored 6 times in a 13-4 nonconference win over Neuqua on Wednesday.
