Friday's Game Recaps

Naperville Central 13 Homewood-Flossmoor 2

Michelle Spaits totaled 4 goals and the trio of Beth Ryan, Kaela Codo, and Jessica Fox each recorded 2 scores to help Central get past the Vikings 13-2 on Friday. Emily Westlove, Jennifer Oliver, and Krista Drapalik each added one score while Ryan and Kristina Altuve combined to make 9 steals. Amber Barney and Megan Dunlavy each tallied one goal, Kelly Morrissey and Sarah Tozer each made 2 steals, and Rebecca Tanner saved 7 shots in the loss for H-F.

 

Mother McAuley 13 Waubonsie Valley 3

Clare Bryar tallied 3 scores and four other players (Claire Mueller, Fran Williamson, Julie Olivares, Tess Bowens) added 2 goals as the Mighty Macs downed Waubonsie Valley 13-3. Mary June O'Connell and Maggie Hennigan each added one goal in the winning effort for McAuley. Samantha Holzschu scored 2 times and Sarah Anderson notched one score in the loss for the Warriors.


Saturday's Game Recaps

Naperville Central 16 STC East 1

Alli Hansen tallied 4 scores, Michelle Spaits added 3 goals, and Kristina Altuve put in 2 scores as Central earned a 16-1 win over STC East. Caroline Aemmer and Jennifer Oliver led the defense after making 4 steals apiece while goalie Faith Vandercar blocked 6 shots and allowed just one goal. Megan Zbiden put in the lone score in the loss for the Saints.

 

Mother McAuley 10 Fremd 4

Fran Williamson led the Mighty Macs' offense with 4 goals and the trio of Claire Mueller, Clare Bryar, and Maggie Hennigan each scored 2 goals as the McAuley pulled away from the Vikings in the second half to earn a 10-4 win. Samantha Barry totaled 3 goals and Megan Younker scored once in the loss for Fremd.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 8 STC East 4

Megan Dunlavy tallied 4 scores and Amber Barney notched 2 scores in the Vikings' 8-4 victory over the Warriors. Brianna Rauch and Sarah Tozer both chipped in with one score in the win for H-F. Lexy Kos scored 2 times and both Kaitlyn Johnson and Megan Zbiden scored once in the losing effort.

 

Fremd 9 Waubonsie Valley 2

Samantha Barry poured in 6 goals to help the Vikings bounce back from an earlier loss with a 9-2 victory over Waubonsie Valley. Karolina Urban, Sarah Coombs, and Tami Carlson each scored once in the win for Fremd. Monica Kunovszky and Samantha Holzschu both scored once in the loss for the Warriors.

 

STC East 11 Waubonsie Valley 9 (5th place)

Haley Salveson scored the game-winning goal with 1:51 remaining and Saints' goalie December Fagen made a key save in the final minute to help STC East emerge with an 11-9 win over Waubonsie Valley on Saturday afternoon. Lexy Kos scored 5 goals, Salveson put in 3 scores, and Megan Zbiden netted 2 goals in the winning effort. Samantha Holzschu totaled 5 scores and Molly Anderson scored 2 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Homewood-Flossmoor 3 Fremd 2 (3rd place)

Megan Dunlavy scored 2 goals and Amber Barney scored once as the Vikings held off Fremd 3-2 in a low-scoring defensive battle to claim third place at the Naperville Central Tournament. Tami Carlson scored 2 goals in the loss for the Vikings.

 

Naperville Central 9 Mother McAuley 8 (1st place)

Jessica Fox scored the game-winning goal with :09 left in regulation to lift Naperville Central over Mother McAuley 9-8 in the title game of the Redhawks own tournament. It was the second straight week the NC senior scored in the final minute of a win and she led the offense with 4 goals in the win. Kristina Altuve also scored 2 times, while connecting on a man-up goal to tie the game with 1:27 remaining. Alli Hansen also scored 2 key second-half goals off the bench for the victors. Clare Bryar and Fran Williamson each scored 3 goals and both Claire Mueller and Julie Olivares tallied one score in the loss for the Mighty Macs.
