The heated rivalry between the Porters and Eagles continues when the SWSC Blue teams meet for the first of two matches on April 1 in a contest that could help determine the conference winner when all is said and done.

The T-Bolts have been perfect thus far in 2014, but they face a difficult road test when they travel to LWC to take on an underrated Knights' squad looking to pull off an upset.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Sandburg 14 Lockport 13 (OT)

Mitch Zieler's game-winning goal in the second overtime period helped Sandburg edge Lockport 14-13 in a key SWSC Blue contest. The Eagles trailed 13-12 after the first extra session but outscored the Porters 2-0 to earn the comeback win.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Andrew 12 Lincoln-Way Central 11

Eric Tamulonis scored the game-winning goal with just over two minutes remaining in regulation and the Andrew defense held the Knights scoreless the rest of the way as the T-Bolts held off LWC 12-11 to stay undefeated in 2014. Tamulonis registered 6 scores, Alex Gacek netted 4 goals, and Tim Yara blocked 9 shots in the winning effort. Tristan Funk totaled 7 goals in the loss for the Knights.

 

Bradley 12 Lincoln-Way North 6

Nick Dalzell recorded 5 goals, Grant Langfoss netted 3 scores, and Zach Zahrobsky tallied 2 goals as the Boilers defeated LWN 12-6. Jacob LaMore blocked 11 shots in the winning effort for Bradley.

 

Hersey 19 Elk Grove 6

George Vladirmorov, Jack Carroll, and Michael Buffa each scored 4 times to lead Hersey to a 19-6 victory over Elk Grove. Austin Beaupre netted 2 scores in the loss for the Grenadiers.

Andrew 6 LWC 4 (OT)

Caily Friel scored the game-winner with 1:37 remaining in the second overtime period and Megan Hofer added an insurance goal as the T-Bolts stunned Central 6-4 in extra time on Tuesday. Genny McCarthy recorded 3 goals, Hofer scored 2 times, Friel scored once, and Anna Tamulonis made 8 saves in the win for Andrew. Caily Davern registered 2 scores and both Kim Bernhard and Kristi Howe scored once in the losing effort for the Knights.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Evanston 10 Loyola 8

The Wildkits recorded six goals in the fourth quarter to rally past Loyola 10-8 on Tuesday night. Courtney Gregori, Honore Collins, Karissa McBride, Madison Collins, and Melinda King combined to score all 10 of the Evanston goals in the nonconference win. Marta Considine scored 6 times in the loss for the Ramblers.

 

Lincoln-Way North 15 Bradley 11

The Phoenix (5-5) improved to .500 after getting past Bradley 15-11 on Tuesday in an SWSC Red match. Rachel Thorson scored 4 goals, Celine Dalde totaled 3 scores and 9 steals, Regan Warmoth put in 2 goals and Meagan Arseneau stopped 10 shots in the loss for the Lady Boilers.

 

Lyons 16 Stagg 3

Allie Kurth and Frankie Delleman each scored 3 goals to help the Lions earn a 16-3 victory over Stagg on Tuesday. Almasa Duheric, Grace Wackerman, and Haley Hughes each added 2 scores while Erin Yang, Caroline Walsh, Lindsey Wantuck, and Meredith Land each added one goal in the win. Hughes and Walsh also combined to lead the defense with 10 steals.

 

Mundelein 11 Glenbrook North 8

Allie Booth registered 4 scores and Karrie Kozokar added 3 goals to lead Mundelein past GBN 11-8. Emily Garcia also scored 2 times and both Anna Ward and Sasha Levin scored once in the Mustangs' victory. Lindsay Fraser tallied 5 scores in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Stevenson 17 Glenbrook South 1

Allison Travetto and Becky Callen each scored 4 goals and the tandem of Lauren Burns and Callen totaled 12 saves as Stevenson defeated GBS 17-1. Annika Hotchkiss, Autumn Hoang, and Melissa Gartenberg put in 2 goals apiece in the Patriots' win.

 

Wheeling 15 Vernon Hills 5

Theresa Godlewski registered 10 goals, Emily Sowa put in 3 scores, and Rachel Ropski added 2 goals as Wheeling defeated Vernon Hills 15-5. Morgan Levy scored 3 times, Lauren Wood notched 2 scores, and Katy Udesky made 11 saves in the loss for the Cougars.
