MATCH OF THE DAY

6:00pm #9 Sandburg at #1 Lyons

The Eagles and Lions meet in a rematch of last year's state semifinal round, in which LT edged Sandburg 12-11 en route to their first state title. Can the Eagles get a bit of revenge or will the Lions make it eleven straight wins since their only loss of the season back in Week 2?

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

6:00pm #22 GBS at #12 Loyola

The Titans have a chance to shake up the seedings at next month's sectional, but to do it, they will need to travel to Wilmette to beat a battle-tested Loyola team that beat GBS twice last season.

Expect a closely-contested battle between the Patriots and Mustangs in a game that will likely decide the winner of the North Suburban Conference and the top-seed in next month's sectional playoffs.

The Lions head down to Orland Park to take on Sandburg in a battle of teams looking to make their move into the Top 10 with a high-quality nonconference win.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lyons 10 Sandburg 2

Josh Hirt and Peter Dore both scored 2 times in the first half to help the Lions gain a 5-2 advantage over Sandburg at the break. Both players added one goal apiece in the third quarter to increase the LT lead to 8-2 entering the final quarter. The Lions continued their run in the fourth period, scoring twice to end the game with a 10-2 victory.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Curie 17 Morgan Park 13

Ivan Ariza totaled 8 goals and Jeronimo Chavez netted 5 scores in Curie's 17-13 win over Morgan Park. Kerry Jones tallied 6 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Hinsdale Central 10 Waubonsie Valley 6

George Koulouris recorded 6 goals to lead the Red Devils to a 10-6 triumph over Waubonsie Valley. The Warriors were led by Austin Johnson (3 goals) on the offensive end.

 

Loyola 7 Glenbrook South 5

Jack Considine scored 2 goals in the first half to help Loyola jump out to a 5-2 halftime lead. Ramblers' goalie Kyle Strobel also came up big with 12 total saves, including a block on a GBS breakaway chance in the first quarter. The Titans inched closer with the only goal in the third period, but Cameron Shewchuck and Jack Nickele both notched goals late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for Loyola. Considine and Shewchuck led the Ramblers with 2 goals apiece, while five different players scored in the loss for GBS.

 

St Ignatius 8 DeLaSalle 3

Jesus Juarez, John Reyes, and Shane Hughes all scored 2 goals and Tym Zymon made 8 saves to help the Wolfpack beat DeLaSalle 8-3.

 

St Viator 11 St Rita 10 (OT)

Rob Battin scored 4 goals, including the game-winner, Keegan Finn added 3 scores, and Frank Skorski stopped 13 shots and added 5 steals as St Viator edged St Rita 11-10 in overtime. Shea Boyer added 2 goals in the win for the Lions.

 

Whitney Young 12 Northside 9

Seth Hughes registered 6 goals and both Dan Shumaker and Tony Romo put in 2 scores as the Dolphins knocked off Northside 12-9.

Mundelein 7 Stevenson 5

Allison Boothe recorded 3 goals, Hannah Davidson and Karrie Kozokar each tallied 2 scores, and Anna Ward denied 14 shots in Mundelein's 7-5 victory over Stevenson. Allison Travetto scored 3 times, Brittany Gartenberg put in 2 scores, and Becky Callen made 13 saves in the loss for the Patriots.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Bradley 20 Richards 12

Rachel Thorson poured in 7 goals, Drew L'Ecuyer pitched in with 5 scores, and Celine Dalde connected on 4 shots in Bradley's 20-12 victory over Richards. Amber Forbes totaled 14 saves and 5 assists and Katie Lehman added 2 scores in the Boilers' win.

 

Curie 5 Morgan Park 0

The Condors recorded a 5-0 forfeit win over Morgan Park in a scheduled CPS conference game.

 

Elk Grove 8 Resurrection 3

Alexa Zajac, Dominika Struk, and Kathryn Noonan each tallied 2 goals and Kellie Franke made 12 saves in Elk Grove's 8-3 nonconference win over Resurrection. Annie Koepke, Kelly Henehan, and Kelly Taylor  each scored once in the loss for the Bandits.

 

Hinsdale Central 9 Waubonsie Valley 8

Sarah Pircon contributed 6 goals in the Red Devils' 9-8 win over Waubonsie Valley on Wednesday. Alden Leader also made 14 saves in the win for Central. Molly Devine and Sam Holzschu both scored 2 times in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Maine West 13 STC East 7

Carly Romano scored 5 times and Kara Atwood tallied 4 scores in the Warriors' 13-7 win over STC East. Emily Morrison also scored 2 goals and Sarah Godawa and Tara Woodford combined to save 17 shots in the win for West.

 

Mother McAuley 14 Marian 4

Amy Kopale and Vicky Arciniega each scored 4 times and Kristen Kleist added 3 goals as the Mighty Macs earned a 14-4 victory over Marian on Wednesday night. Jessica Bachler, MaryJune O'Connell, and Meg Golon each added one score in the win for McAuley. Paige Wieser put in 3 goals in the losing effort for the Spartans.

 

Northside 8 Whitney Young 7

Tammy Saowapak scored the game-winning goal with 1:19 remaining and totaled 3 goals as Northside got past Whitney 8-7 on Wednesday. Rebecca Chan added 2 goals and Marti Hale made 7 saves for the Mustangs, who used a 3-0 run in the third period to tie the game before pulling ahead in the late stages. Jessie Cronin tallied 4 scores in the loss for the Dolphins.

 

Sandburg 8 Lyons 5

Katie Randich and Sarah Dolitsky both scored 2 goals and Alona King made 18 saves as Sandburg earned an 8-5 victory over Lyons on Wednesday. The Eagles trailed 2-1 after the first period but used a 3-0 run in the third quarter to eventually pull away from the Lions. Blair Hopwood totaled 3 goals in the LT loss.

 

St Ignatius 19 DeLaSalle 3

The Wolfpack earned a 19-3 win over DeLaSalle on Senior Night to improve to 3-3 in the Catholic League.

 

STC North 9 R-B 3

Nicole Guyett scored 4 times, Sarah Stern netted 2 goals, and Hannah Horsfall blocked 8 shots to help the North Stars beat R-B 9-3. Lauren Gonsalves, Maddie Jones, and Megan Calabrese each added one score in the nonconference win for North.

 

Vernon Hills 12 Deerfield 6

Morgan Levy scored 5 times and Elena Ochoa netted 4 scores as Deerfield beat Vernon Hills 12-6 for their first win of the season. Grace Han, Lauren Wood, and Priscilla Yim each netted one goal for the victors.
