SANDBURG TOURNAMENT

Sandburg Takes Care Of Business At Home Tournament
The Eagles earned impressive wins over Andrew, Conant, Lincoln-Way North, and STC North to win their own event over the weekend as Kevin Tunney scored 23 goals to lead the team to a 4-0 record. Conant beat Prospect for third place, STC North topped Lane in the fifth-place game, and Andrew got past R-B for seventh place on Saturday afternoon.

Sandburg 17 STC North 10

Kevin Tunney scored 5 goals as the Eagles won their tournament opener by outlasting STC North 17-10. John Pretet recorded 4 goals, Kyle Gannon and Nick Kowaleski each scored 2 times, and Collin Bawolek made 13 saves in the loss for the North Stars.

Conant 12 Andrew 8

Tim Yara scored 3 times, Alex Gaceck scored 2 goals, and Mike Tamulonis totaled 7 steals in Andrew's 12-8 loss to Conant on Friday.

Conant 13 STC North 6

John Pretet and Ryan Hamilton both scored 2 times and Kyle Gannon and Tim Steele each scored once in the loss for North. Nick Traxler also made 12 saves for the North Stars.

Sandburg 14 Andrew 9

Kevin Tunney scored 6 goals to lead Sandburg to a 14-9 win over Andrew on Saturday morning. Chuck Walters scored 3 times and Alex Batuello and Andrew Gamez both scored 2 times in the losing effort.

STC North 14 Andrew 9

Ryan Hamilton put in 4 goals and both John Pretet and Kyle Gannon netted 3 scores as the North Stars defeated Andrew 14-9. Justin Simmonds and Nick Kowaleski each added 2 goals and Nick Traxler totaled 8 saves for the winning side. Chuck Walters tallied 3 scores and both Alex Gacek and Shaun Emerson put in 2 goals for the T-Bolts.

Sandburg 14 Conant 7

Mike O'Malley scored 5 goals, Tomas Serrano notched 4 scores, Zach Roper netted 3 scores, and Kevin Tunney contributed 6 assists in Sandburg's 14-7 win over Conant.

Andrew 16 Riverside-Brookfield 6 (7th place)

Mike Tamulonis recorded 4 goals and Andrew Wojdyla, Chuck Walters, and Eric Tamulonis each put in 3 scores as the T-Bolts ended the weekend on a high note with a 16-6 win over R-B. Kevin Bukauski and Tim Yara combined to stop 10 shots in the victory for Andrew.

STC North 12 Lane 6 (5th place)

John Pretet scored 3 goals and Collin Bawolek made 9 saves as the North Stars beat Lane 12-6 to finish the Sandburg Tournament in fifth place. Kyle Gannon, Nick Kowaleski, and Nick Traxler each scored 2 goals in the winning effort.

Sandburg 11 Lincoln-Way North 6 (1st place)

Kevin Tunney scored 5 times to help lead the Eagles to an 11-6 win over LWN in the title game of their own event on Saturday night.
