ST VIATOR TOURNAMENT

LWC Flexes Muscles At St Viator Tournament
Danijela Jackovich, Liz Klock, Caroline Foglton and the rest of the Knights had no problems dominating the St Viator Tournament again with wins over the hosts, Buffalo Grove, Lockport, and STC North. The North Stars upended Maine South 15-4 in the third-place game before the Knights topped conference foe Lockport for the title.

 

Friday's Game Recaps

Prospect 8 Palatine 6

The Knights jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opening quarter and held off a fourth quarter rally to earn an 8-6 win over Palatine. Caroline Wojtas scored 3 times, Rachel Chumbook registered 2 scores, Emily Seidl notched one score, and Kim Butler made 15 saves in the losing effort.

 

STC North 6 St Viator 1

Sarah Stern recorded 2 goals and Angelica Villa, Kelsey Theile, Nicole Guyett, and Tori Garcia each put in one goal as the North Stars beat the hosts 6-1.

 

Palatine 9 Lockport 3

Rachel Chumbook scored 5 goals, Caroline Wojtas scored 4 times and drew 5 ejections, and Kim Butler stopped 12 shots in Palatine's 9-3 win over Lockport. Christine Bafia netted 3 scores in the loss for the Porters.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 7 STC North 3

The Knights began their title defense with a 7-3 victory over STC North on Friday. Danijela Jackovich put in 4 goals and Liz Klock netted 3 scores in the winning effort. Sarah Stern recorded all 3 goals for North.

 

Saturday's Game Recaps

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Buffalo Grove 3

Danijela Jackovich scored 4 goals and Liz Klock recorded 2 goals in the Knights' 11-3 win over BG.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 10 St Viator 3

Danijela Jackovich and Liz Klock both scored 4 times while Beth Senese and Kristi Howe each put in one goal in Central's 10-3 victory over St Viator.

 

Maine South 11 Palatine 10

The Hawks went on an 8-1 run in the second half to beat Palatine 11-10 to advance to the championship round of the St Viator Tournament. Rachel Chumbook scored 7 times, Caroline Wojtas added 2 goals, and Caitlin McHugh tallied one score in the loss for the Pirates, who had a 9-3 lead at one point before losing the lead in the final period.

 

STC North 9 Buffalo Grove 4

Sarah Stern recorded 7 goals and Nicole Guyett provided the other two scores in the North Stars 9-4 win over Buffalo Grove.

 

STC North 15 Maine South 4 (3rd place)

Nicole Guyett scored 5 goals and both Maddie Jones and Sarah Stern notched 4 scores as STC North beat Maine South 15-4 after three-fourths of the game had to be replayed due to a scorekeeping error.

 

Lincoln-Way Central 11 Lockport 4 (1st place)

Danijela Jackovich poured in 5 goals and Liz Klock tallied 2 scores as the Knights won the entire event by beating Lockport 11-4.
