FEATURED EVENT

NAPERVILLE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT

The 'Best of the West' event features eight teams, sixteen games, and two pools. Naperville North looks to defend their title, but they'll have to do so against a stacked field; they are joined by BG, Glenbrook North, and Mundelein in their group. On the other side of the ledger, the Redhawks are in a group that includes LWC, Glenbrook South, and Hinsdale Central. The championship round begins early on Saturday afternoon and takes place exclusively at Naperville North.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

SANDBURG TOURNAMENT

The Sandburg Tournament gets underway on Friday morning with an eight-game set and picks up again on Saturday morning as the hosts look to defend their title. The Eagles' group consists of Conant, R-B, and STC North, while the other side of the bracket includes Andrew, Lane, LWN, and Prospect.

JENISON TOURNAMENT

Naperville Central travels to Michigan to do battle with some of The Great Lakes State's best water polo teams in a two day event beginning on Friday night. The Redhawks get started with Grand Haven in their tournament opener on Friday night before squaring off with #3 Hudsonville and #8 Rockford on Saturday morning. The event culminates with a championship round on Saturday afternoon.

NAPERVILLE CENTRAL TOURNAMENT

Naperville North 16 Buffalo Grove 1

The Huskies raced out to a 13-0 halftime lead and never looked back as they beat Buffalo Grove 16-1 in the tournament-opener for both teams in Naperville. Nolan Roberts led the offense with 6 first-half goals.

 

Glenbrook South 10 Lincoln-Way Central 6

Brant Boczek recorded 4 goals and Jake Nelson netted 3 scores in the Titans' 10-6 win over LWC. Davis Hianik also made 9 saves in the win for GBS.

 

Mundelein 13 Glenbrook North 8

The Mustangs opened their tournament account with a 13-8 victory over GBN. John Roberts put in 5 goals, Robert Liberman netted 3 scores, and Sam Fishman made 8 saves in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Glenbrook South 7 Hinsdale Central 4

Brant Boczek, Peter Dales, and Seamus Heneghan each scored 2 times and Davis Hianik made 13 saves as the Titans defeated Hinsdale Central 7-4.

 

Naperville North 13 Glenbrook North 4

Luke Landiak tallied 3 scores and both BD Chapman and Gianmarco Duin scored 2 times as the Huskies earned a 13-4 win over GBN on Friday night. Six other players (Cassano, Holzer, Nash, Roberts, Towers, Yao) each added one goal in the winning effort. John Roberts notched 3 goals and Sam Fishman made 6 saves in the loss for the Spartans.

 

Naperville Central 13 Lincoln-Way Central 4

Joe Bigenwald and Ryan Donahue each netted 3 goals while Adam Hunter, Christian May, and Nick Walker all scored 2 goals in the Redhawks' 13-4 win over LWC.

 

 

SANDBURG TOURNAMENT

Sandburg 16 R-B 4

Zach Roper totaled 6 goals and Sean McNicholas made 15 saves as Sandburg started their own event with a 16-4 win over R-B. Mitch Zieler added 2 scores and eight other players scored once in the victory.

 

Andrew 11 Lincoln-Way North 5

Eric Tamulonis scored 6 goals and Andrew Wojdyla added 3 scores in the T-Bolts 11-5 victory over LWN. Jake Villasenor and Kyle Fitzgerald each added one goal while goalie Tim Yara and the Andrew defense held the Phoenix scoreless in the second period to allow the T-Bolts to pull away. Evan Surma scored 2 times in the loss for North.

 

Sandburg 11 STC North 5

Zach Roper scored 5 goals, Ben Crnich netted 3 scores, and Sean McNicholas stopped 9 shots to help lift Sandburg over STC North 10-4. Mitch Zieler also tacked on 2 scores in the Eagles' win. John Pretet scored 3 goals in the loss for the North Stars.

 

Andrew 13 Prospect 7

Alex Gacek and Eric Tamulonis each scored 4 goals while Tim Yara and Sean Reilly combined to block 12 shots and earn 5 steals as the T-Bolts beat Prospect 13-7. Chuck Walters totaled 3 goals and 4 steals and both Alex Batuello and Andrew Wojdyla each added a goal for the victors.

 

STC North 8 R-B 3

John Pretet recorded 4 goals and Nick Traxler added 2 scores as the North Stars beat the Bulldogs 8-3.

JENISON TOURNAMENT

Naperville Central 15 Grand Haven 2

Jessica Fox recorded 4 goals and both Kaela Codo and Michelle Spaits netted 3 goals to lift the Redhawks over Grand Haven in their tournament-opener at the Jenison Tournament in Michigan. Kristina Altuve and Alli Hansen each added 2 goals and Ann Marie Gunn notched one score in the win. The defense totaled 23 steals in front of goaltender Faith Vandercar, who allowed only 2 goals for Central.
