The CPS Tournament got underway with last Saturday's play-in games and continues throughout Week 9; the quarterfinal round on Tuesday narrows the field and eventually leads to Friday's title game. Curie will look to defend their city title after they knocked off Whitney Young in last year's championship game.

 

KEEP AN EYE ON

6:00pm - #20 Neuqua Valley at #8 Lockport

The Porters are on a roll as the postseason approaches, but they'll have to be at their best when Simon Shatinsky and the Wildcats come to town for a nonconference battle on Tuesday.

CSL TOURNAMENT

The Central Suburban League's conference tournament gets underway early in the week with one play-in game and continues throughout the week until a champion is crowned on Saturday morning. New Trier and Evanston earned the top two seeds, respectively, but there are several contenders with high hopes aiming for their first-ever league title.

MATCH OF THE DAY

Lockport 14 Neuqua Valley 12

The Porters earned an impressive 14-12 home victory over Neuqua Valley on Tuesday. Zach Elias netted 5 goals, both Jake Speechley and Matt Olinski tallied 3 scores, and the goaltending duo if Pat Melaniphy and Tyler Trench combined to make 14 saves in the winning effort. Simon Shatinsky poured in 7 goals and Scott DePuy totaled 3 goals and 3 assists in the loss for the Wildcats. Shatinsky also drew 8 ejections while both Lucas Becker and Ian Ivkovich put in one goal for Neuqua.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Naperville North 15 Hinsdale South 3

Drake McClure and Jon Jon Pettinger both scored 4 goals and Nolan Roberts notched 3 scores to lead the Huskies to a 15-3 victory over Hinsdale South. Albert Yao, Marco Duin, Joe Cassano and Ryan Towers all scored once in the win for North.

 

St Viator 14 Maine West 11

Eric Sutton and Keegan Finn both registered 4 goals and Frank Skorski made 15 saves in the Lions' 14-11 triumph over Maine West. Shea Boyer and Tommy Madaras each scored 2 times and both Nick Eschbach and Brennan McGuire recorded one score in the winning effort.

MATCH OF THE DAY

St Ignatius 12 Lyons 2

Tammy Stelnicki scored 4 goals and Jenny Stelnicki blocked 15 shots as the Wolfpack went on the road to earn a 12-2 win over Lyons. Diana Fernandez and Nikol Lagodzinska each added a pair of goals for the SICP attack. Meredith Land recorded both goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

OTHER KEY GAMES

Naperville North 13 Hinsdale South 1

Dani DiMatteo recorded 3 goals and both Jilian Eiken and Katie Horn scored 2 times as the Huskies beat Hinsdale South 13-1 on Tuesday evening. Five seniors scored in their final home game, as Dree Kinder, Alyssa Kolenda, Kelen Wei, Katie Anderson, and Kyra Hartley each tallied one score for North. They were joined on the scoresheet by Caitlin Holzer , as the sophomore also scored one goal. Briana Kirin scored the lone goal in the loss for the Hornets.

 

Oak Park 14 Morton 2

Katie Appell scored 4 goals, Jordin Hale made 13 saves, and Anna Vogel scored once and made 5 saves to help lift OPRF over Morton 14-2. Maura Dahl added 2 goals while Claire Rolfes, Elizabeth Williams, Mia Andreoli, Jilly Cronin and Grace Martin all scored once in the Huskies' win.

 

Sandburg 7 Neuqua Valley 2

The Eagles continued their win streak with a 7-2 win over Neuqua Valley on Tuesday. Sarah Dolitsky put in 4 goals in the win for Sandburg. Morgan Miller and Sammi Jaquez each tallied one score and Issi French made 11 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

STC North 14 Meadows 0

Nicole Guyett registered 5 goals, Monica Guyett totaled 3 scores and 11 steals, and Allyson Foor recorded a shutout as the North Stars beat Meadows 14-0. Katie Difiglio and Katie Quinn both added 2 goals in the win, while Kennedy Norris and Lucy Tykal each chipped in with one score for North.
