TOURNAMENT RECAP

 

Preview
Lyons hosts the West Suburban Conference tournament to end the regular season for all six members. The schedule sees Hinsdale Central take on Morton in the first quarterfinal, with the winner to face top-seeded Oak Park in the semifinals, while the winner of the
York-Hinsdale South contest meets the hosts in the second semifinal. The championship game takes place on Saturday in the early afternoon.

Saturday's Game Recaps

York 16 Hinsdale South 9

Grace Achepohl scored 5 goals and the trio of Lauren Tamm, Izzy Gil, and Perri Brinkmeier each scored 2 goals as York beat Hinsdale South 16-9. Sarah Lewand made 7 saves in the win for the Dukes.

 

Oak Park 13 Hinsdale Central 2

Katie Appell scored 5 times and Jordin Hale made 15 saves and contributed 3 assists in the Huskies' 13-2 victory over Hinsdale Central. Anna Vogel and Genevieve Curry both recorded 2 goals while Jilly Cronin, Claire Rolfes, Elizabeth Williams, and Maddie Wolfe each scored once in the win. Cronin made 5 steals on the defensive end as well.

 

Lyons 11 York 7

Allie Kurth totaled 3 goals and 3 assists and Jessie Wittenberg made 8 saves as the Lions beat York 11-7 to advance to the WSC Tournament title game. Haley Hughes, Julia Cohen, and Meredith Land each put in 2 scores and Frankie Delleman led the defense with 5 steals (and a goal). Emma Hirt also scored once in the winning effort. Perri Brinkmeier totaled 4 goals and Sarah Lewand made 10 saves in the loss for the Dukes.

 

Oak Park 6 Lyons 4 (OT)

The Huskies outlasted Lyons 6-4 in overtime to win the WSC Tournament on Saturday. Katie Appell tallied 3 goals and made 6 steals, Genevieve Curry totaled 2 scores, 5 steals, and 3 assists, and goalie Jordin Hale stopped 18 shots in the victory. Mia Andreoli also chipped in with one goal in the win. Haley Hughes scored 2 goals and both Erin Yang and Meredith Land scored once for LT, as they overcame a 3-1 deficit entering the fourth quarter to send the game to extra time.
