2015 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 11 & 12.

 

The girls' quarterfinal action starts on May 13, followed by the boys' quarterfinal games on May 14. The sectional semifinals are played on May 15, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 16.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

GAME RECAPS (Thursday, May 14)

 

 

 

BUFFALO GROVE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 19 Palatine 5

Alex Kapecki and Collin Kapecki both scored 4 goals and Dan Maleski notched 3 scores to help lead the Patriots past Palatine 19-5. Luke Gable-Preze and Nick Koto each scored 2 goals while Shaurya Gilani and Charlie Day combined to stop 13 shots for the victors.

 

McHenry 6 Libertyville 5

Garrett Floden scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the last minute of regulation to send the Warriors past Libertyville 6-5 on Thursday night. Floden scored 5 times and Jackson Smith tallied the first goal of the game for the victors.

 

Mundelein 18 Highland Park 5

Matt Schaedel totaled 5 goals and 5 steals, Eric Nielsen tallied 4 scores, Mike Ward scored 3 goals and dished out 3 assists and Alfonso Ochoa stopped 9 shots in the Mustangs' 18-5 win over Highland Park. Nick Oleinik also led the defense with 5 steals in the victory.

 

Wheeling 12 Lake Forest 10 (OT)

Nate Reiff totaled 7 goals to lead the Wildcats to a dramatic 12-10 overtime win over Lake Forest.

 

 

FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 21 Riverside-Brookfield 7

Andrew Bertschy recorded 6 goals to lead the Friars past the Bulldogs 21-7 on Thursday. Paul Sitkiewicz led R-B with 3 scores in the losing effort.

 

Whitney Young 15 Oak Park 13

Duncan McDonald recorded 5 goals to help the Dolphins get past Oak Park 15-13.

 

St Patrick 17 Morton 5

Joe Gibson poured in 6 goals to lead the Shamrocks to a 17-5 victory over Morton.

 

Curie 7 York 5

Jeronimo Chavez scored 5 goals and Ivan Ariza forced 11 turnovers as the Condors beat York 7-5.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 12 Evanston 8

Alex Grant and Charlie Ryan each netted 3 goals while both Chandler Tempest and Michael Krueger put in 2 scores in the Trevians 12-8 win over Evanston. Henry Yavitt and Sam Yavitt rounded out the score with one tally apiece for New Trier.

 

Glenbrook South 14 Maine South 7

Peter Dales netted 7 goals and Tommy Hagerty scored 4 times in the Titans' 14-7 win over Maine South. Davis Hianik also made 14 saves in the winning effort. Phil Wachowski led the Hawks' offense with 5 goals in the loss.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Andrew 14 Bremen 11

Dan Cavato recorded 4 goals and Eric Villasenor scored 3 times as the T-Bolts erased an early 2-1 deficit and fended off a late Bremen rally to walk away with a 14-11 win. Anthony Bartolotta, Matt Bobber and Nick Osty each scored 2 goals, Brett Hofer scored once and the Andrew defense totaled 11 steals in the victory.

 

LWC 10 LWN 5

Pat Burke totaled 7 goals, Matt Klock scored 2 times and Cody Torres added a goal in the Knights' 10-5 triumph over LWN.

 

Sandburg 15 LWW 5

Alex Serrano scored 5 goals while Majd Ibrahim and Mitch Zieler both tallied 3 scores in the Eagles' 15-5 victory over LWW.

 

H-F 13 LWE 10

Mason Reidel scored 3 times and both Haden Santefort and Robbie Schloen netted 2 goals in the Vikings' 13-10 win over LWE. Luke Santefort blocked 14 shots as well for the winners.

 

 

NEUQUA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville Central 20 Waubonsie Valley 7

Phillip Emden recorded 6 goals and Kyle Jackson scored 5 times in the Redhawks' 20-7 win over WVHS. Christian May and Nick Walker each added 3 goals for the victors. Cameron Steele netted 4 scores and Cedrick Chan stopped 7 shots and a penalty in the loss for the Warriors. Jon McWhirter, Kay Andressen and Wyatt Tiscareno rounded out the scoring for Waubonsie with one goal apiece.

 

Lockport 9 STC North 3

Ian Greenway, Joey Tomczuk and Zach Elias each scored 2 goals and Pat Melaniphy stopped 16 shots as the Porters beat STC North 9-3. Angelo Demarco, Eric Johnson and Steven Howell each added one score in the win for Lockport. John Pretet scored 2 goals and Chris Stanek added one score in the loss for the North Stars. Stanek and John Quinn also led the North defense with 3 steals apiece.

 

Neuqua Valley 19 Hinsdale Central 6

Simon Shatinsky recorded 6 goals and Scott DePuy scored 5 times in the Wildcats' 19-6 victory over HC. Brett Whaley and Joey Dalesandro each netted 2 goals as well for the hosts. Jack Duggan scored 2 times in the loss for the Red Devils.

 

Naperville North 16 STC East 8

Drake McClure racked up 7 goals and Cole Jacobs scored 4 times in the Huskies' 16-8 win over STC East.

 

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Barrington 17 Elk Grove 10

Matt Gouskos and Marshall Mathias both scored 4 times in the Broncos' 17-10 triumph over Elk Grove. Chase Lesniak, Jim Gibson, John Fischer and Nathan Mathias all scored 2 times as well for the winners.

 

Conant 14 Hersey 4

Braden LaMore and Connor Schmitz each scored 5 goals to lead the Cougars past Hersey 14-4.

 

Schaumburg 9 St Viator 7

Tyler Gustafson recorded 4 goals, Jack Pyde scored 3 times and James Birriel netted 2 scores to help the Saxons knock off St Viator 9-7. Edin Latic made 15 saves in the win for the hosts. Keegan Finn and Shea Boyer each netted 2 goals in the loss for the Lions.

 

 

ST IGNATIUS SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 13 Northside 8

Shane Hughes scored 2 goals and several others including Colin Stelmach, Conor Shannon, Jacob Conroy and Michael Schiml scored once as the Wolfpack downed Northside 13-8. Luke Rothschild made 5 saves and 3 steals as well for SICP. Sacramento Chavez tallied 4 scores in the loss for the Mustangs.

 

Von Steuben 8 Lane 7

Christopher Iza netted 3 goals while Ethan Hamp notched 2 scores as Von Steuben trailed Lane 6-3 at the half but outscored the Indians 5-1 in the second half to earn an 8-7 victory over their CPS counterparts. Max Boettcher recorded 3 goals and Mark Gullickson scored 2 times in the loss for Lane.

 

DLS 16 Latin 5

Robert Rodriguez tallied 5 scores and the trio of Gilberto Moreno, Joe Koziol and Shane Nagel each put in 2 scores in the Meteors' 16-5 win over Latin. Max Falb totaled 4 scores in the loss for the Romans.

 

Jones-Payton 18 Mt Carmel 6

Will Macellaio recorded 8 goals, 4 steals and 3 blocks and Steven Fitzgerald scored 5 times in the Eagles' 18-6 victory over Mt Carmel. Jacob Williams notched 3 scores in the loss for the Caravan.
