2015 SECTIONALS
More than 150 boys and girls teams will begin their quest for a chance to advance to the state tournament, starting with the sectional play-in games on May 11 & 12.

 

The girls' quarterfinal action starts on May 13, followed by the boys' quarterfinal games on May 14. The sectional semifinals are played on May 15, with the sectional final games all taking place on Saturday, May 16.

Links to every sectional site are provided below. These will be updated continuously with schedules, game times, and scores/recaps throughout the week of sectionals. At the end of the week, we will have Sectional Ballers and the All-Sectional Teams (as soon as they are submitted to us from each sectional site).

GAME RECAPS (Friday, May 15)

 

 

 

BUFFALO GROVE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 18 McHenry 7

Collin Kapecki netted 4 scores, Nick Koto scored 3 times and dished out 3 assists and Dan Maleski added 2 goals as Stevenson emerged with an 18-7 victory over McHenry.

 

Wheeling 8 Mundelein 7

Nate Reiff scored 4 times to lead the Wildcats past Mundelein 8-7 and into the sectional finals.

 

 

FENWICK SECTIONAL

Fenwick 22 Whitney Young 6

Colin Daly, DJ Perez and Ryan Masi all scored 3 goals and the trio of Andrew Bertschy, Danny Farmer and Jack Mahoney each contributed 3 assists as Fenwick beat Young 22-6. Perez led the defense with 6 steals while Will Skowron celebrated his birthday with 5 saves in the Friars' victory. Bertschy, Farmer, Mahoney and Mickey McGuire each added 2 scores in the win.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

Loyola 4 Niles West 3

Ragen Murphy scored 2 goals to help the defending champions survive a late challenge by Niles West as they advanced to the sectional finals with a 4-3 victory. Lucas Brace netted 2 goals and Matt Lefler saved 16 shots and made 4 steals in the one-goal loss.

 

New Trier 12 Glenbrook South 8

Alex Grant and Chris Keller each recorded 4 goals to lead the Trevians past GBS 12-8. Will Kohr, Michael Krueger and Chandler Tempest also scored 2 goals apiece for the victors. Peter Dales scored 3 times in the loss for the Titans.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way Central 9 Andrew 5

Pat Burke registered 4 goals, Cody Torres notched 3 scores and Matt Klock tallied 2 scores as the Knights defeated Andrew 9-5.

 

Sandburg 6 Homewood-Flossmoor 3

Mitch Zieler scored 3 goals and Alex Serrano, Dovydas Paskevicius and Majd Ibrahim each registered one score as the Eagles fended off H-F 6-3 to advance to the sectional finals. Robbie Schloen scored 2 times, Haden Santefort scored once and Lucas Santefort made 20 saves in the losing effort.

 

 

NEUQUA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville Central 20 Lockport 12

Nick Walker poured in 9 goals and both Christian May and Phillip Emden scored 4 times as the Redhawks beat Lockport 20-12. Tyler Ciliak also scored 2 goals in the win for Central. Eric Johnson netted 4 goals and both Joey Tomczuk and Zach Elias scored 3 times in the losing effort. Pat Melaniphy also stopped 9 shots on the defensive end for the Porters.

 

Neuqua Valley 10 Naperville North 9

Ian Ivkovich scored the game-winning goal off a rebound from Jack Angus' shot with :07 left in regulation to send the Wildcats past Naperville North 10-9 in dramatic finish at the NV Sectional. Scott DePuy totaled 3 goals while Simon Shatinsky, Lucas Becker and Ivkovich each netted 2 scores. Austin Mollway also made 10 saves, Shatinsky made 8 steals and Joey Dalesandro recorded 5 field blocks. Drake McClure recorded 5 goals while Spencer Wallace notched 2 scores in the loss for the Huskies.

 

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Barrington 8 Fremd 5

Chase Lesniak registered 3 scores and Matt Gouskos scored 2 times in the Broncos' 8-5 win over Fremd.

 

Conant 12 Schaumburg 9

Six players tallied goals for the Cougars as they earned a 12-6 victory over Schaumburg to advance to the sectional final round.

 

 

ST IGNATIUS SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 20 Von Steuben 12

Billy Barth and Brendan Stelmach each scored 4 goals and Shane Hughes netted 3 scores as the Wolfpack defeated Von Steuben 20-12. Andreas Christy and Gunnar Glaab both tallied 2 scores while Sam Enger blocked 7 shots and dished out 3 assists in the win.

 

DLS 15 Jones-Payton 4

Robert Rodriguez racked up 8 goals to lead the Meteors to a 15-4 victory over Jones-Payton.

BUFFALO GROVE SECTIONAL

Stevenson 16 Lake Forest 4

Allison Travetto and Melissa Gartenberg both scored 5 goals and Lauren Burns totaled 11 saves and 4 steals as the top-ranked Patriots remained perfect in 2015 after beating Lake Forest 16-4. Travetto led the defense with 7 steals while Gartenberg dished out 5 assists and made 6 steals. Claire Haas scored once and made 5 steals and Eileen Hoang added a goal and 4 assists. Abby Warren tallied 2 scores while both Allison Majka and Catherine Pompe scored once in the loss for the Scouts.

 

Palatine 8 Wheeling 4

Caroline Wojtas netted 5 goals, Caitlin McHugh scored 2 times and Tess O'Brien made 11 saves as the Pirates outlasted Wheeling 8-4. Kristin Anderson also scored once and dished out 3 assists in the victory. Theresa Godlewski scored 3 times and Shannon Richards netted one goal in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

 

FENWICK SECTIONAL

Oak Park 11 York 4

Genevieve Curry scored 6 goals and drew 3 ejections, Jilly Cronin added 3 scores and Jordin Hale made 11 saves and totaled 3 assists in the Huskies' 11-4 win over York. Maddie Wolfe and Mia Andreoli each put in one score as well for the winners.

 

 

GBN SECTIONAL

New Trier 14 Maine West 7

Lauren Barrett registered 5 goals to help lead the Trevians past Maine West 14-7 and into the sectional finals. Emily Morrison netted 4 goals, Holly Wasicak netted 3 scores and Lilly Jensen made 15 saves in the loss for the Warriors.

 

Loyola 10 Glenbrook North 9

Claire Voss and Julia Sajnaj each tallied 4 scores as Loyola outlasted GBN 10-9 in overtime on Friday. Lindsay Fraser scored 4 times in the loss for the Spartans.

 

 

LWN SECTIONAL

Lincoln-Way Central 8 Lincoln-Way West 4

Delaney Shepard recorded 5 goals and Alli Ramirez scored 2 times in the Knights' 8-4 win over LWW. Kim Bernhard and Nikki Howe each added one score while Bernhard and Cailey Davern both totaled 8 steals in the win.

 

 

LYONS SECTIONAL

Lyons 18 Stagg 5

Caroline Walsh scored 4 goals and made 6 steals while Annika Moore, Kaysie Stuba, Megan Kotil, Maria Grba and Maddie Cordell each tallied 2 scores in the Lions' 18-5 win over Stagg. Julia Cohen scored once and drew 3 ejections while Jessie Wittenberg and Madie Janik combined to stop 9 shots in the victory.

 

Mother McAuley 9 Hinsdale Central 3

Claire Mueller and Fran Bauer each scored 3 times and Geena Peyton stopped 7 shots in the Mighty Macs' 9-3 triumph over Hinsdale Central. Erin Breakey added 2 goals, Maggie Hennigan scored once and Julie Olivares led the McAuley defense with 6 steals.

 

 

NEUQUA VALLEY SECTIONAL

Naperville North 15 Neuqua Valley 6

Jilian Eiken recorded 8 goals and Katie Horn scored 4 times in the Huskies' 15-6 win over Neuqua Valley. Morgan Miller scored 5 goals, Zoe Salafatinos added one score and Issi French made 10 saves in the loss for the Wildcats.

 

Naperville Central 10 Sandburg 7

Kaela Codo scored 6 times in the first period and totaled 8 goals as the Redhawks beat Sandburg 10-7 on Friday night. Central led 6-1 early and 8-3 at halftime and held off a second half rally by the Eagles to get the win. Emily Westlove added 2 goals, Alli Hansen and Jennifer Oliver combined to make 11 steals and Faith Vandercar made 8 saves in the winning effort. Sarah Dolitsky led the Eagles with 4 scores in the loss.

 

 

SCHAUMBURG SECTIONAL

Conant 14 Schaumburg 4

Carmen Rosas totaled 7 goals and Maddy Demaret stopped 14 shots as the Cougars topped Schaumburg 14-4 on Friday. Sam Wooley totaled 2 goals and 4 assists and Sarah Gregory added 2 goals as well in the winning effort. Brittney Vasquez notched 2 scores in the loss for the Saxons.

 

Fremd 5 Prospect 2

The Fremd defense limited Prospect to just two goals as the Vikings advanced to the sectional finals with a 5-2 victory over the Knights. Emma Jeronimus totaled 14 saves while Becca Rutkowski, Emily Kini, Emma Hoffman, Kayla Helsdingen and Nicole Degla each scored once for the victors. Danielle McCallister scored 2 times and Lauren Broz made 14 saves in the loss for Prospect.

 

 

ST IGNATIUS SECTIONAL

St Ignatius 11 Northside 4

Brianna Gist totaled 3 goals and both Diana Fernandez and Tara White each scored 2 times to help the Wolfpack beat Northside 11-4.

 

Evanston 8 Lane 0

Becca Schumm and Millie Rosen each scored 3 goals while Olivia Everhart earned a shutout as Evanston blanked Lane 8-0 to advance to the sectional finals.
