    Sectional Finals - Week 10

 

BOYS

Peter Bruton (Lyons)

 

Peter Bruton scored the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime to send Lyons to the state tournament with an 11-10 victory over Brother Rice.

 

 

Joe Kamper (Sandburg)

 

Joe Kamper scored with nine seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give Sandburg an 8-7 win over H-F and a berth in the state tournament. Kamper scored 3 goals in the win for the Eagles.

 

 

Max Saltzman (Naperville Central)

 

Max Saltzman scored the game-winning goal in the final minute to give Naperville Central a 9-8 win over Neuqua Valley in the Sectional finals.

 

 

Greg Spigelman (Stevenson)

 

Greg Spigelman's goal in the final period led Stevenson to an 8-7 victory over Mundelein at the Vernon Hills Sectional.

 

 

GIRLS

Story Pumphrey (Homewood-Flossmoor)

 

Story Pumphrey scored the game-tying and game-winning goals in the final three minutes of H-F's 6-5 win over Lincoln-Way East in the Sectional finals. Pumphrey totaled 4 goals, including the game's last goal with just twenty-six seconds remaining.

 

 

Morgan Bonk (Fenwick)

 

Morgan Bonk scored 6 goals as Fenwick defeated Ignatius 10-4 to advance to the state tournament.

 

 

Patti McNamara/McAuley Defense (Mother McAuley)

 

Patti McNamara and the Mother McAuley defense held Lyons' offense scoreless for three periods and McNamara recorded 13 saves as Mother McAuley beat Lyons 8-2 to advance to the state tournament next weekend.

 

 

Sam Virella (Naperville Central)

 

Sam Virella made 15 saves in Naperville Central's 8-5 win over Neuqua Valley, which qualified the Redhawks for the state tournament. Virella did not allow a goal in the first half.
