Friday, March 18

Fenwick 14 Neuqua Valley 5

Alison Pavlik scored 8 goals to lead Fenwick past Neuqua Valley 14-5 in the tournament opener. The Friars started slowly but built an 8-1 lead before coasting to the win.

St Ignatius 8 Mother McAuley 6

Nora Kennelly scored four goals to lead St Ignatius to their first-ever win over Mother McAuley. Maggie Wood and Rosie Asfour scored fourth quarter goals to get the Mighty Macs to within one, but Meredith Messerle drew an ejection and scored on the ensuing powerplay with 2:23 remaining to give the St Ignatius an 8-6 win.

Sandburg 12 Oak Park 3

The Eagles jumped out to a 4-1 lead with four powerplay goals and never looked back as they knocked off Oak Park for the second time this season. Sam Cody led the way with three goals, while Hannah Ciurej and Michelle Mulhull each added two scores. Eight players scored for Sandburg in the 12-3 win. Lauren Gumbel scored twice for Oak Park in the loss.

Fenwick 18 Mundelein 6

Fenwick advanced to the first place bracket of the tournament with a 18-6 win over Mundelein in the final game of the night. Alison Pavlik scored 8 times while Farren Rixter added 5 goals in the win.

 

Saturday, March 19

St Ignatius 9 New Trier 4

New Trier led St Ignatius 3-2 early in the second quarter before the Wolfpack went on a 7-0 run to emerge with a 9-4 victory. Ignatius advanced to the first place bracket with the win. Nora Kennelly led all scorers with four tallies, while Laura Abrams scored twice in the loss for New Trier.

Neuqua Valley 6 Mundelein 2

In a defensive battle, Neuqua goalie Kayley Provow held Mundelein to just two goals as the Wildcats earned the 6-2 victory. Elise Engelhard and Sarah Alden led Neuqua with two goals apiece, while Siobhan Larsen scored twice for the Mustangs.

Sandburg 7 Stevenson 7

Stevenson scored twice in the final period to tie Sandburg 7-7, as Terri Bukofzer scored the tying goal on a seven-meter shot. Ami Czerwinski gave the Eagles a 6-4 lead early in the third quarter, but Bukofzer responded with a backhand goal moments later. Sam Cody assisted her sister Amanda on a goal to put Sandburg ahead 7-5 in the final minute of the third period, but the Patriots were able to come back and tie the score. Bukofzer and Sandburg's Nicole Srutowski drew ejections in the final three minutes, but both defenses held up and the game finished in a draw. Czerwinski scored three goals for Sandburg, while Amanda Cody tallied two goals. Bukofzer and Katie Michelau led Stevenson with three goals apiece.

Mother McAuley 21 New Trier 7

Twelve players lit up the scoreboard for Mother McAuley in a 21-7 win over New Trier. The Mighty Macs advanced to the second place bracket, while the Trevians fell to the third place division. Theresa Hennigan and Marian Martinez both scored three times for McAuley, while Allie Hamm scored three goals in a losing cause for New Trier.

Stevenson 14 Oak Park 7

Stevenson fought off Oak Park with a five-goal fourth quarter, as the Huskies were within 9-6 heading into the final period. Terri Bukofzer scored six goals for the Patriots, while Katie Michelau and Sam Gibson score three and Jesse Shopiro added two goals. Lauren Daggett led Oak Park in scoring with three goals. By virtue of a tiebreaker, Stevenson fell to the second place division of the tournament. Oak Park moved on to the third place bracket.

 

Championship Round

Mundelein 12 New Trier 4

Siobhan Larsen scored four goals and Bree Longfield added three as Mundelein won their first game of the tournament 12-4 over New Trier. Lauren McGrath tallied three scores for the Trevians, who erased a 4-1 halftime deficit before the Mustangs pulled away in the final quarter.

Neuqua Valley 9 Mother McAuley 6

Sarah Alden scored three straight goals in the fourth quarter to give Neuqua Valley a 7-6 lead, and the Wildcats added two more scores in the closing minutes to knock off Mother McAuley 9-6. Alden totaled four goals in the game, while five other Wildcat players tallied one goal each. Laura Perez and Lily Gonzalez both scored twice in the loss for the Mighty Macs.

Fenwick 18 Sandburg 7

Farren Rixter tallied 8 goals and five other Friars scored as Fenwick won the first place division opener over Sandburg 18-7. The Eagles kept things close in the first half, as they trailed 6-2 after the first quarter and 11-5 at halftime, but Fenwick scored four straight to start the second half and pulled away for the win. Keely Baldwin and Alison Pavlik each scored three goals in the win, and Christina Romano (2 goals), DANIELLE Buglio, and Kaitlin Kysiak also scored for the Friars. Michelle Mulhall scored two goals to lead Sandburg, while Amanda Cody, Sam Cody, Hannah Ciurej, Ami Czerwinski, and Nicole Srutowski all scored once in the loss.

Mundelein 6 Oak Park 6

Mundelein's Bree Longfield scored with 2:14 remaining in the fourth quarter to tie the game, and both defenses did not allow another goal as the Mustangs and Huskies finished tied at 6-6. Longfield and Siobhan Larsen both totaled two goals for Mundelein, while Lauren Daggett scored twice and three other Huskies tallied goals.

Stevenson 6 Neuqua Valley 4

Terri Bukofzer and Margaret Burke scored fourth quarter goals and goalie Jessica Flor shut Neuqua out in the last period to lift Stevenson past Neuqua Valley 6-4. Sam Gibson led Stevenson with two goals, while Laura Quebbeman led the Wildcats with two goals of her own in the loss.

Sandburg 14 St Ignatius 4

Sandburg used a 5-0 first half run to distance themselves from St Ignatius in a 14-4 victory in the first place division of the tournament. Amanda Cody wreaked havoc on defense while leading the team in scoring with four goals. Hannah Ciurej, Sam  Cody, and Allison Schilling all scored twice in the win, while Nicole Srutowski, Michelle Mulhull, Ami Czerwinski, and Christina Ladas each added one goal. Meredith Messerle scored three goals for the Wolfpack, while Nora Kennelly added a goal in the first half in the loss.

Oak Park 7 New Trier 7

Oak Park scored four times in the final period to finish the tournament with a 7-7 draw against New Trier. Molly Twigg paced the Trevians with five goals, but Lauren Daggett and Emily Japlon helped the Huskies come from behind to tie the game. Daggett finished with four goals and Japlon had three. Claire Plante and Lauren McGrath also scored goals for New Trier.

Mother McAuley 6 Stevenson 5

Stevenson got to within 6-5 on a goal by Margaret Burke, but could not tie the score in the final two minutes of the game. Maggie Wood led McAuley with four goals, while the Patriots were led by Katie Michelau's three goals.

Fenwick 17 St Ignatius 7

Fenwick wrapped up a tournament championship with a 17-7 victory over St Ignatius. The Wolfpack kept things close in the first quarter, as Nora Kennelly scored twice to keep the scored tied nearing the end of the period. Christina Romano scored at the buzzer for the Friars, and Fenwick scored five straight goals in the second quarter to pull ahead 8-2. Farren Rixter led the Friars with six goals, Alison Pavlik scored five, and Christina Romano tallied four scores. Nora Kennelly led St Ignatius with six goals.
