Play-In Games
(7) Buffalo Grove 14 (10) Deerfield 1
Sarah Morosan scored 3 goals while Lauren Komrska, Olivia Pontarelli
and Jessi Graziano each scored 2 times to help the Bison get past
Deerfield 14-1. The winners will take on second-seeded Palatine in
the sectional quarterfinal round on Wednesday.
(8) Highland Park 9 (9) Vernon Hills 2
The Lady Giants knocked off Vernon Hills 9-2 in the sectional
play-in round to setup a date with top-seed Stevenson on Wednesday.
Natalie Gelberg scored 4 times, Emma Gelberg scored 3 goals and
Abbey Hodges made 17 saves in the winning effort. Lauren Wood tallied
both scores for the Cougars while Elena Ochoa made 10 steals and
Lisa Cheng totaled 5 thefts in the losing effort.
Wednesday, May 13
Quarterfinals
(1) Stevenson 21 (8) Highland Park 4
Allison Travetto scored 4 goals and the trio of Autumn Hoang, Claire
Haas and Melissa Gartenberg each tallied 3 scores in the Patriots' 21-4
victory over Highland Park. Alex Adams and Jordyn Landua each put in 2
goals while Lauren Burns and Brigitte Lefebvre combined to stop 12 shots
for the winners. Abbey Hodges, Alison Perlman, Danni Cole and Natalie
Gelberg each scored once and Haley Fucoo blocked 8 shots in the loss for
the Lady Giants.
(4) Lake Forest 7 (5) Mundelein 3
Abby Warren registered 3 goals while Alyssa Hollander, Catherine Pompe,
Claire Wieland and Madeleine Pompe each added one goal in the Scouts' 7-3
triumph over Mundelein. Lauren Blake netted 2 goals and Abbie Lukas scored
once in the loss for the Mustangs.
(2) Palatine 8 (7) Buffalo Grove 2
Caroline Wojtas recorded 5 goals and Tess O'Brien stopped 12 shots to
lead the Pirates past BG 8-2. Caitlin McHugh, Kristin Anderson and
Mathilde Mogensen each added one goal in the winning effort.
(3) Wheeling 18 (6) Libertyville 7
Theresa Godlewski totaled 9 goals and Elizabeth Wargo made 12 saves in the
Wildcats' 18-7 victory over Libertyville. Argelia Diaz added 4 goals,
Shannon Richards scored 3 times while Jenna Pink and Juliana Isayeva both
scored once in the win.
Friday, May 15
Semifinals
(1) Stevenson 16 (4) Lake Forest 4
Allison Travetto and Melissa Gartenberg both scored 5 goals and Lauren
Burns totaled 11 saves and 4 steals as the top-ranked Patriots remained
perfect in 2015 after beating Lake Forest 16-4. Travetto led the defense
with 7 steals while Gartenberg dished out 5 assists and made 6 steals.
Claire Haas scored once and made 5 steals and Eileen Hoang added a goal
and 4 assists. Abby Warren tallied 2 scores while both Allison Majka and
Catherine Pompe scored once in the loss for the Scouts.
(2) Palatine 8 (3) Wheeling 4
Caroline Wojtas netted 5 goals, Caitlin McHugh scored 2 times and
Tess O'Brien made 11 saves as the Pirates outlasted Wheeling 8-4.
Kristin Anderson also scored once and dished out 3 assists in the
victory. Theresa Godlewski scored 3 times and Shannon Richards
netted one goal in the loss for the Wildcats.
